  1. The guy on trademe is still selling them as cold water guppys, and now he even has platy! he doesnt listen to what any of us have tryed to tell him! what is wrong with some ppl? coudnt that be some sought of false advertising? i mean say some kid gets them as present, so he keeps them ina coldwater tank or pond, and the water is too cold and they die?? really he shouldnt be selling them as cold water! he doesnt tell them that they are tropical fish that he has acclimatised?? Shae 250
  2. have done what you said alan, at lower temp between 18c-22c i got mostly females, and at the 24c-26c i got a relitivley equal ammount of males to females give or take a few. Cheers Shae 250

  8. okey, no worries, it seems that yours have growin a bit faster than mine? how big are they, the ones i gave you? Shae 250
  9. belive me it was the same when i got my first tank, expet i bought a little gravel cleaner as the big ones suck out to much water before being able to remove all the crap form under the gravel, you just need to stay calm and keep a cool head, its not as nerv racking as you think. Cheers Shae 250
  10. oh lol, sry for me the following fish have made ma alot of money: Guppy Blue Ram Platy Mollies i would think that the following would make you a fair bit also: Discus(might be expensive to start with but you could certainly get a fair bit each for the little critters if you have good types of parents, such as blood pigeons etc) other cichlids(such as firemouths, flags, mbuna, malawis etc which tend to have quite alot of fry) killies (generally easy to breed, harder to raise the fry, and hard to find in the first place, i am having a crack at these soon, but you could certainly make a fair bit off them) i no there are others i jst cant think of them right now?? brain musnt be completely switched on?? Shae 250
  11. thats intresting, my geuss would be he is either showing off, or has too much testosterone at the momment, hes probably jst trying to prove himself??? not to sure? i no that livebearers will pick on sick fish! i would suggest moving the juinvile or giving him away or swapping for somthing? Cheers Shae
  12. no it doesnt matter, but you'll prolly get a strange mixed colour, im not totally sure about what age they can brred at i think it has somthing to so with how intense there colour is? i could b rong! Shae 250
  13. bubblenest breeders are a pian in the bum to breed, i had a crack at bettas earlier on when i started inn this hobby, obviouusly to no success! if you wanna breed them to make money, think again, some ppl might have had great success stories, but generally they are to much to bother with! remmeber this is jst my opinion, if you are really into them then feel free to do what you like! as i say some others will deffinatly not feel the same about bubblenest breeders as i! Shae 250
  14. believe me alan i will deffinatly not be jumping into this like i jumped into this hobby! that sort of thing spells disater! i have thougth about all the things you have said, exept i was wondering about how the heating works! cheers thank for that. i have started designing the room with my dad useing some architecture software. this is a long way off yet, but i am hoping all will go well! Shae 250
  15. i have had a similair thing happen to some of my livebearers, treated them and took a few months for there colour and scales to return, i wouldnt worry if the fish is alright now? if there anything like my fish then you should be right! Shae 250
  16. i used too own 2 a white one and a black one, you only need to feed them once everyt three days with a small peice of mince meat, there is no need to put the meat ona scewer, they dont tend to like eating infront of ppl while there beoing watched, they do live in cold water, and like dark places to hide, do water changes once a week! the only thing i will say is they do huge turds that sit on the bottom of the tank!! its digusting!, they like planted tanks! and occasionally feed them some live food! they will grow quiet big! Cheers Shae 250
  17. i have tones of pink batts, gib and high density polystirene packing sheets! how are you able to get the right tempertaure, with the oil heaters? on mine its just got 1,2,3,4,5 settings! and $25 would be much cheaper than the $70 a month im paying at the momment! i have checked with the coucil, and everything sems ot be in order, my father is paying for some sort of permet! any other ideas? tha space i have is limited in the garage? the room would be small? i think i would be able to get 20-30 tanks in it if they were stacked 3 high right round the room! nothing has been biult yet still am discussing with my parents wether it is worth it or not? Cheers Shae 250
  18. they have nice long swords! i will be hopefully posting some pics tonight if my dad decided to bring home, the zip drive that there on! Cheers Shae 250
  19. in a chilli bin or sumthing to insulate the heat? in the past i have jst tucked the bag of fish under my shirt then not only does it keep the water warm but also dark, in which the fish cannont se anything, therefore less stress. if your really worried and dont have a chillibin or sumthing, i had a freind who got an old shoe box, lined it with low density foam, and a heat pack then he jst dropped the bag in and when he got home pulled it out, they were all fine. there is all sorts of ways to go about it! just use your head! Cheers Shae 250
