Firstly in a 68 litre tank, you shouldnt have more than 20 inch of fish at the most! the tank is already overstocked! roughyl killiefan already has a bout 35 inches of fish in his tank! that is way over stocked!!!! its not healthy! secondly if you were to add as you say "what you would suggest" then he would start running into problems! if he istn already then i am quite surprised! I thought it was you Alan who was complaining about small spaces that fish were keeped in, well this is the same thing!!

Probably the easiest of all egg-layers to spawn and rear. place up to three males and six females ina breeding tank, these breeders should be well fed. white clouds breed more or less continuasly on a daily bases, laying eggs on plants etc, and neither eating the eggs nor generally the fry, the fry will be found at or near the suface or swimming between the plants and can be removed to a rearing tank with a teaspoon. the young will be large enought to eat baby brine shrimp, young white clouds ressemble neon tetras and are quite pritty. ok if were talking minimum, then a 300x200x200 will do for a trio, not the best of conditions but we are talking minimum! for fry the same thing will do each of these tanks cost about $25ea. i would never do this becuase of three main resons, the first beeing the fact that sunted growth will occure second very limitied space, and third cleaning and water changes would have to be done very regularly. i would suggest atleast four two foot tanks: first 2 foot tank: for the pair or trio you want to breed second 2 foot: for the continous flow of babies that will come from the adult females, and this way they will grow faster and no stunting will occure. third & fourth 2 foot: seperating the fry once they have matured into sexes ( e.g males in one tank, females in the other) this way you can pick which guppys you would like to breed, depending on what desired patern, coulration and body type you wont. and then they can be put into the first two foot for breeding. this also means you can chose how the strain turns out! Its different if you have a good strain, and if its a rare strain its even better, the hard part is getting it to run true. my guppy females, generally give me between 80-100 give or take few, now if i am able to bring up 90 to adulthood, and i can sell a trio at $20-$30, then theres a fair bit of money to be made, the thing is as soon as you do that you strain becomes less rare! i know some ppl prefer not to relise there strains in such amounts, and will only sell one or two trios at a time. Its easy for me, either its sold through trademe, or ebay, could even sell them through a club, or biuld your own web site to sell them ( of which i am in the proccess of) even take them to a pet store, thats not the hard part, the hardest part is finding a really good trio, and them breeding them true (it wont happen over night, but it will happen ) you have to be patient because it takes more attention than you relise. there been a problem latley from importers, guppys have developed an immunity to some sought of medication, and they all died? i think i got that right? well anyways the latest imports all died! if you have a really good strain, thats running true! then you can charge $30 a trio! thats what i have done! and if a guppy gives you 40-50 fry then your in the money! my guppy's usually give me over 100 but that cause there unusualy big! only if there wernt enough females to go round, if they are on there own shouldnt be a problem, but platy become infertile quite fast if they dont "exercie" if you gte my drift Shae 250
