hit the nail on the head shuih!! also other fish can stress them! im not totally sure and one of the more experienced members should correct me if im rong but, white spot could be likened to stress in humans, except for that stress shortens our lives and it tends to kill fish if not combated quiekly, fish always have the virus that causes white spot, but it only becomes a problem once they have become harrased/stressed. wether it be by other fish, transportation from a shop or freind etc or by being ruff and frightening them! also there can be water conditions that lpay a roll in it also! I said: i didnt say that neons wernt hardy i jst meant generally there not the hardiest fish out there! and from my experience i have had 0% success with them, but we are in a hobby were all have there own ways, hows and whats, so i am not surprised that alot of ppl have had success with neons! parrot cichlids, severums, e. yellows anything you want really, get some plants that grow tall put them at the back and layer the tank going smaller plants as it gets to the front. also do the same with the gravel have a very thin layer at the front and get thicker at the back! it gives the impression of depth which can look queit cool! also you could great some caves etc by doing that! i doubt even if you use the medication on them that it will save there lives! as you said it is all over there bodies so i am assumming theyve had it for a little while and its spread! neons dnt tend to be very hardy, i would by the medication anyways not only for in the future use, but to also help erraticate the prooblem in your tank! id say you probably wont have anymore neons by the time youve finished medicating the tank as medications also put stress on the fish! dont be disheatened by it i lost my first couple of drops because i was inexperienced! you'll learn that certain techniques work for the individual! in between 4-5 weeks you'll have another drop! so write down the date the mom dropped and then you'll be able to monitor when you should put her into a birthing trap or tank! i have had the same problem this month to! alot of my breeders die from stress of birth, and very bad broods of which i could only save a few! i have had the same probllem with my plants once! when setting upa new tank, i didnt have a clue what it was, it looked like some sort of fungal brown decay on the plant, so i jst picked of the leaves that were infected by it and through them away, have not had a problem since, i am assuming that som1 will be able to tell you what the real problem is.
