  9. yes it is an acttual count, as i move them from the breeding trap to the fry tank, i am able to count, i have had them give me between 50-80 a couple of times, but mostly its in the hundreds
  10. Im Quite interested in haveing my own coldwater marine setup but live no where near a beach or sea water, how would i go about keeping the water salted and what would be involved in looking after the kritters?
  11. how do you keep the water salted?
  12. If they are stressed there eyes tend to do that
  13. I disagree with CHRIS.L he said near the start of this forum, that platy have between 30 and 40 fry. I apologise for being picky about the subject but my platy tend to give birth to between 100-150 fry every 4 weeks.
  14. i find with all my livebearers, platys, swordtails, guppies, mollies, that a tell tale sign of when to put them in a breeding trap or tank, is when they suddenly look like there about to pop! and start floating near the bottom of the tank. and i also suggest you let the females rest in a different tank with either very placid fish or other females or by herself otherwise she will useualy die, as i have found out when i started in the hobby, the males seem particularly dependent on breeding straight after they having given birth.
  15. If they all sit on the bottom, they will most likely be platy, i find that when my guppies give birth the babies automatically become active, same with my sordtails and mollies, but my platy babies always spend the first few days liying on the ground.
