  1. hey, dont knock the donuts
  2. emptying out steves garage tank?? good stuff, i got about 10kg last time i was up
  3. nothing wrong with your skimmer, its just that the tank is so new (including fresh rocks) that it will take a good year to settle down, if you had kept your rocks alive rather than starting from scratch you might not have had this problem
  4. slappers i dont think your skimmer is up to par  steves stuff is clavularia i think. part of the reason youll be having the algae's on the rock is because your rock is still very very fresh and needs time to cycle properly and mature, like jimmys tank
  5. yeah i really wanted to wait for them but decided my tank needed the flow pretty much straight away
  6. looks like some more snake oil to me you seem very stressed out about your algae paul
  7. does it explain in the manual what type of system they use to create the bubbles?? they look very neat and tidy but cant work out from looking at them how they work.
  8. reef has heaps in his tank ask him if he'd be willing to part with one or two for you
  9. you might want to try dipping them in a bath of tank water with salifert flat worm exit, i had them back in the day when i treated for flat worms and they dissapeared at the same time
  10. thought so. is it set up already??? i'm interested to hear how it goes, make sure you do a write up about it
  11. the one you were running on your tank?? what skimmer did you decide on in the end?
  12. im pretty sure he is thinking of upgraded to a slightly bigger tank to allow for the anemone i'm sure chi wont mind you getting a bigger tank
  13. those clowns are pigs. was it a small shrimp?
  14. looks like a nice tidy job is your wife convinced that the skimmer is the last peice of equiptment that you need for a while?
  15. ive seen your tank more than once and im simply saying its not my cup of tea. your corals/fish equipment is all very nice but the execution is not how i would do it, and as layton said its subjective. why would you build a tank in your house that i like but you dont???? the answer is you wouldnt. you build the one you like. nothing to do with tall poppies.
  16. I thought this would interest some folks thinking of rearing their clowns that spawn. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=9ea32aa0c96254de9c672cd5d11f6876&threadid=743992 The most interesting one i found to be the one of the female clown actually laying down the eggs with her oviwatchamacallit. Very cool that they nested on the glass enableing the guy to snap the pics
  17. i feel somewhat confused at your hostility i am not saying my tank is better, to the contrary my tank is not even fully set up yet. i am also a little bewildered as to what my personal life has to do with this?? i am not putting down reefs tank im only saying that in my opinion its not that impressive. ive seen other reef tanks in aucland that i like far better. but like you said my opinion isnt worth anything and im only trying to bring people down to my own level i hope the moderators take note of your attitude and take the appropriate action.
  18. ummm still on earth, i didnt realise that my opinion was something subject to interpretation by you???? there are far better tanks around, sure his might be big and he has lots of corals and fish, but that doesnt impress me. for example the TOTM on RC this month, is only 750x750x600, and it is a jawdropper, when i look at the full tank shot i think OMG that thing is incredible. inspiring to say the least. but again that is only my opinion and i dont need anyone to justify the way i think
  19. good stuff fay, looks like its starting to fill up
  20. but then you'd have to redo your little dog box sump room
