  1. good luck reef, Im interested to see how the plants grow with the under ground heating wire. Have you got an idea of how you will aquascape it?
  2. hey caryl, some nice looking plants there, one Q for you though, how did you get the power to the pump??
  3. did some digging yesterday and finished one half of the pond. I'll snap a few pics tonight to show the progress. on the topic of filters, does anyone have any reccomendations for decent pond filters?? I had a quick look here and while i am yet to figure out the volume of the pond i feel it might be far cheaper and less time consuming to just buy one.
  4. I got rid of everything marine just before we moved into our house as we are fixing it up and didnt know for sure what we would do to the house. Cant remember anyone being banned but I could imagine who it might have been. Thanks for the tips about the filters guys, i'll keep them in mind, still might just buy one but need to shop around before hand and weigh up the options

    Pond Log

Hi All. It has been a while since I've posted but thought I'd start a log to track the progress of one of the projects I am currently working on as we rennovate our crappy house. At the current time there is a small pond about the size of a bathtub in an area that was completely over run with various plants and weeds, this area was cleared out last week and is now pretty much ready for the real work to begin. I plan to do some digging this week and hope to find a suitible pond liner (butyl or similar). I am also contemplating wether the extra work in creating some form or waterfall with the return from the pond filter would be worth it, and if so how to do this. Also any suggestions people have to do with concealing the filter or building my own one would be great. Ciao

    what size

i thought that wasp prefered the deltec to the aquac??? oh well either way i reccomend a sump.
  18. Brianemone

    what size

you can hunt around for bargains, good equiptment is still worth buying second hand but dont expect it to be dirt cheap because its got a few miles on it. there are four main areas of expense skimmer good skimmer, dpends on wether you want a sump as to what type you can get, the deltecs are the best hangon back type skimmers. if you have a sump it allows for more skimmer choices Lighting depends on what corals you want to keep flow the more the better (generally) stock rock is the biggest expense, you can find second hand live rock or the occasional bargain on trademe (all the better) then your nice fish and corals

  23. my comment where in the best interest of any buyers, he made no reference as to what skill level it takes to look after a marine tank, this is the best place to come and learn about that. end of story, not saying people shouldnt buy his trickle filtered tank, just that they should know what they are buying and how to look after it.
