  1. Such a huge difference. You have done well. Looks great.
  2. Even easier than that, put your wood in hot water. The hotter the better. The BBA will turn red in seconds. :bggrn:
  3. Yep, felt both out west. Very short though. Felt like a large truck passing by but without the noise, and a bit sharper.
  4. Would be a great outcome if they put the persons responsible into people sized bags and then on public display.
  5. I bought two Bolivian's. I picked them out because they were the most active in the display tank. When I look back I should have realised they were actually fighting. Anyhow, turns out they were both female and one was deffinately more dominant. It harrased the other one so much the weaker one evenutally died after just a few weeks. Then I added two blue rams. Before I bought them I watched closely in the display and this time I picked out the least aggressive I could see. The Bolivian started harrasing them from the moment I added them. A short while later though the two blues spawned and the tables changed VERY quickly. Even though the blues are smaller they can sure dish it out. The Bolivian is no longer dominant and all have got on relatively peacfully ever since. I wont be getting another Bolivian though while this one is still around.
  6. Not just fish clubs. A lot of clubs are suffering at the moment. People are just too darn busy these days and there are soo many other things happening around the place to take away your attention.
  7. And best of all you now have a compulsory 8 weeks to plan out properly your new look tanks. :bggrn: No chance of making any bad rushed decisions
  8. Thanks Sophia, I will check it out. Thanks Alan, sounds like a very good reason not to dilute, so Cheers for that.
  9. Thank you Sophia, you are very generous. I actually have a small syringe I can use to measure out the small amouts, but it's still a bit of a faff, so was just looking for an easier way. Cheers
  10. Particularly Excel and Comprehensive. The reason being, for a small planted tank, it's not that easy to measure out the recommended dose as it's such a small amount. I was thinking I could dilute these products with water to just 10% concentration and then keep it like that. Does anyone know of a reason why this would not be a good idea? Cheers Leon
  11. A very interseting discusion. I can see some people getting very passionate about this subject. To add my own spin on this, I don't understand why everything has to be written/printed in two languages. Even my passport? Who the hell outside NZ will ever be able to read it? I've NEVER met a Maori that could read or speak Maori, but not English. Why does everything have to be printed twice? Surley this is a at a huge cost to society as a whole. I have nothing agaist the Maori language or any other part of the culture, and in fact am quite proud to be a New Zealander when Maori is used at appropirate times. I just don't like the compulsary and 'always in your face' aspect of it.
  12. No, the AR126 is too wide. The space is only 350mm. I got this tank of Simon @ TheFishTank.co.nz via trademe. It's a Q-320. God only knows who makes it. But it's perfect for this application. To be honest I've been looking for a while to find a tank to fit this space.
  13. LOL, you guys are quick... Yeah it's only 19L for the tank but suprisingly heavy, and I had wondered about the weight. For now I will not extend the shelf all the way out, and am already working on a drop down leg to support the weight at the front. Great minds think alike aye....
  14. Lately I've started putting them just in the fridge first. They seem to go 'to sleep' quite quickly. I leave them there for a few hours before going to the feezer. I'm not quite that mean. To be honest it would be quite a bit of effort required to advertise them.. I would never want any money for them. I would give them away if I thought it would be easy, but when new babies arrive every couple of weeks it gets a bit overwhelming. I have got rid of all the males now so I think things will change a bit now. Although, one of the older females is looking awfully fat at the moment.
  15. It always bugged me that the middle section of the Jewel cabinet is a complete waste of space.... so I decided to put in a hospital tank.... Ready to go, when the need arises I can just siphon of water from the top straight into it, turn it on and I'm up and running. I also thought though that there is not much space to lift the lid or do some maintenance... so I then thought, 'sliding shelf'. How easy is that. And here are the results.... BTW, this is a Jewel Vision 260
  16. As all the others have already said, that is one awesome tank. I am guessing though that it's all your experiance has gone into this project. Something all us newbies can only asprire to.
  17. My excess little platys go on a very long holiday in the freezer. I let them grow out a little bit first and if they are good looking they go to the main tank. If they are not so flash, or male, they go to the freezer. The platy's multiply way too easisly for my liking. Sounds harsh but if I didn't do this I would litterally have hudreds of the little beggers and no room for any other fish. Be strong.
  18. The Bird Barn in Lincoln Rd is pretty good. Fish, frogs, turtles and even a few lizards last time I was in there.
  19. I must be really old... I can remember them at that price for a whole carton duty free :sage:
  20. Mate that is the best news I have heard for ages... I was starting to get the shivers when I thought we (NZ) were not going to get any coverage. Now with live thats just awesome. :dnc1:
  21. I thought they were real till I saw the video. How awesome is that! :gpo2:
  22. I used a cf1200 for a couple of months and then upgraded to a Eheim 2075 on my 260l tank. I upgraded as the water was never 100% clear and there didn't seem to be much flow out of the 1200. You would be hard pressed to find any difference in sound between the 1200 and the 2075. They are both very quiet and really can only be heard if all other sound sources are turned off first and you open the cupboard door where the filter is housed. That said, the Eheim is slightly quieter, has better flow and best of all the water is 100% clear now. But then, you can buy 4 1200's for the price of 1 2075 and still have change. If I was going to do it again I would get a 1200 and fill it up with Eheim media.
  23. Any chance you can incorporate it into a new tank design or even turn it into a cool UTE tank. Like those ATM guys on the telly have done?
  24. Here's a good site to test your speed. http://www.speedtest.net/ Ideally though you would have done a test before the new modem and another after to see the difference.
  25. :gopo: must cost you a bit in fish food if you keep feeding like that though.
