  1. I thought this is funny as hell when a colleague showed me some 'Cat Bearding' images today. :bggrn: For more just type 'Cat Bearding' into Google Images. There's hundreds.
  2. Also, I have found that most plants come with free snails too. :cry1:
  3. Thanks guys. At least it sounds a little hopeful for him. I don't have any Furan, but I do have some Melafix so can't hurt to add some of that into the tank. Cheers
  4. Hi All, my Dwarf Gourami had what appeared to be a tiny bubble in one of his eyes. It started a couple of weeks ago and has since got worse. I am wondering if there is anything as all that can be done about it? When it started his eye was still clear, but now it's turned opaque. Here is a pic of both his eyes, so you can see the difference Good eye Bad eye Cheers
  5. And this is the view your fish will have. :bggrn: Awesome tank dude. Perfect room for it too. :gpo2:
  6. Windows 8.1 will be released soon.... which basically puts the start button back. Will be a free upgrade for Windows 8 users. Apparently Microsoft got too many complaints.
  7. I'm pretty sure when I was a wee lad, our vet made a house call to put our sick old cat down. We thought the trip to the vet would be too stressful so he came to us instead. Don't vets make house calls anymore?
  8. You have must have a lot of patience to get those awesome shots. :nfs:
  9. If it builds bubble nests, it's male. If it releases eggs, it's female. No need to thank me. I do this as a public service. :slfg:
  10. Just liquid carbon. aka Flourish Excel.
  11. Looks like a completely different tank now. Much better. You must be very pleased with your effort.
  12. Thanks guys for your kind words. I am secretly enjoying this tank more than my big one currently. I'll stick up some more pics when it's filled in a bit more.
  13. You've done something to the two small rocks at each end? Not sure what though, it's very subtle.
  14. Hi Guys, here's a short photo essay of how my small tank has changed over the past few weeks.... In the beginning.... there was plastic. Easy to keep clean, but rather boring too. Then came the fancy background. I stuck it on with some of that 'Sea View background gue'. Seems to work quite well actually. Getting serious now.... swapped out the boring grey gravel with some of that fancy black flourite stuff and at the same time removed all the silk plants and replaced with some off cuts from my other tank. Time for some new additions... Galaxy Rosbora (small platy were already there) The transformation is more or less complete now. 6 weeks on and with a bit more growth. Will need to deal to that Indian fern soon. Didn't like the stargrass either. Grows way too quick. Replaced with Dwarf Sag with the hope it will one day carpet most of the foreground. Maybe a long wait though. Couldn't quite get it right trying to tie down the Java Fern with cotton so ended up pinning it. I think I'm onto something there. Much easier. Currently dosing with 1.0ml Excel and 0.5ml Comprehensive daily. Also one root tab each for the Amazon Sword and the tiger lotus. Probably overkill but I had some spare. The stock light the tank came with is on twice a day. 8:00am - 12:00pm and then again 5:00pm - 9:00pm. 8 hours total. Current stock, 8 Ember Tetra, 8 Galaxy Rosboras, 2 Oto and 1 small gourami currently getting a bit of R+R from her sister for a few days. The platys and the fighter are elsewhere now. More pictures of the little minifishes....
  15. Could there be something wrong with your food? Some unusual type of plant in yout tank? Are your fish being slowly poisoned? Sounds like you have tried just about everything else so just clutching at straws now. Hope you find the cause soon. Can't be much fun at the moment for you.
  16. Don't forget to test the rocks before putting in your tank though. I have found that some of them alter you PH. To test I just put some in a bucket of water for a couple of days. I also had another bucket with just water in it. After a couple of days test the PH on both buckets. You will see easily if the rocks affect your PH in this way.
  17. Currently there are 8x Ember Tetra's and 8x Galaxy Rosbora's and 2x Otto. Previously there were numerous baby platy and a fighter. But I do quite frequent water changes. About 25% 2-3 times per week. I've never had an amonia reading. Even when it was new. Had a little nitrite once though when it was a couple of weeks old. It was supposed to be my hospital tank but is now fully planted etc.. etc... you know how it goes. :slfg:
  18. That's your best version yet. But aren't you worried your fish will be able to hide too easily behind the rocks. Regarless. Looks awesome. Well done.
  19. I often (about 3 times now) forget to turn the filter back on again on my AR380. I turn it off when feeding so the food doesn't blow all over the place. It can be 12 hours or so before I notice. I just turn it back on again. Have never noticed any side affects. 8)
  20. You guys have some very touching and amazing stories. It really brings home the true meaning of ANZAC and what true heroes these guys were. I doubt many modern soldiers would be as brave. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Here is my male. Not very clear sorry, the little bugger doesn't sit still long enough within range. But anyhow, you get the idea. The dark blue didn't happen till after a few months so hopefully one of your two will be male as well.
  22. I think he's a she. I had 4. 2 boys and 2 girls. The girls have a faint black stripe down their side (just like the one pictured here) that comes and goes. The males are smaller and go bright orange around their tail area and their throat area goes a really dark navy colour when they get 'in the mood'. The girls also go orange around their tail region but not to the same extent as the males. They are one of the most beautiful fish in my community. I also have a very aggressive neon blue dwarf gourami that pretty much leaves them alone. Unfortunately one of the boys did get some kind of skin disorder so I euthanised him as I was worried it would spread. The remaining male is constantly building bubble nests and I occasionally see the girls releasing their eggs with him, which the Emerald Eyes Rosbora's immediately scoff down. In other words, great and very entertaining fish. If you get some you won't be disappointed.
