  2. parctially burying your bottom rocks in the sand will help stop the rocks from tumbling if the fish do decide to dig round the bottom of your pile
  3. ouch. been watching this thread. can't add anything helpful sorry. Just such a shame about the pictus... they is awesome fish. not the cheapest either

  5. there aren't many farmers out there that apply more then what is needed now days.. regional councils test water ways and the likes. anyway now that we know how much is to much to put on the land its just plain silly for farmers to put on excess as it hurts their wallet.. science has come a long way to stop this. years gone past build up could contribute but not todays farmers (or at least the smart ones)... sorry :smot:

  12. Ok so i just re goggled them and yes you're right they prefer to be in groups. so i will look at getting another couple when we go to chch at the end of the month. hopefully they be a lot cheaper up there.
  13. I would love that but considering they can grow to 30 cm i'd need to enlarge the tank quite quickly. Plus they are $72 each at the lfs
  14. I finally got myself a small pictus catfish a couple of weeks ago. he's not more then about 8 cm. i'm after another bottom dwelling catfish that i can keep with him. i don't want a chocolate talking, a port hoplow or an upsidedown catfish. Nor do i want anything that i have to keep i schools. Ofcourse it has to grow big enough not to be eaten by him when he gets bigger. I was thinking of a Virculated Synodontis (excuse my spelling). i saw these on the fish list for hwff mt roskil and googled it and they a awesome looking fish. Any other thoughts? cheers
