  2. to start with, that tank in really too small for that stocking list. i would assume bullying to be an issue,. try feeding then turning off the lights and standing back, he might start once he's less shy

    Hello from chch

soooo... what have you got that you call "you creations" sounds like fun.
  4. LA: was that the same type I gave you???, there were some lil guys multiplying like there was no tomorrow
  5. the comment about returned animals is based on studies on Australian whiting which rate around the 90% - 60% depending on technique. have you ever run into a aquarium keeper down at the water slowly acclimating the stock back into the water??? most get poured in.
  6. there is a major fish breeder (commercial level) that ships via post haste in Tauranga so they are very used to it, ring the local girls at the office, they will advise you on everything
  7. interesting... why is there an eheim in there??, was that a personal choice?
  8. bragging or asking for help????
  9. lets be honest, most "returned" items never survive..... Catch and release have average survival rates, hate to think what it would be if you tried acclimating them more than once. and tbh, how many "releases" are acclimated properly???
  10. :iag: glass is stronger side on... kinda simple really
  11. imo 2 x males, one will be paler since he's losing the display-a-thon girls will be attracted to the fin extension but girls tend to not join in
  12. wow, are you seriously talking about an organization with more than just a backyard jockey???? they should be ashamed with the end product, even if it was to size.
  13. I always assume an earthquake, thats why my 3ft tanks are all on 4x2 stands with diagonal bracing. then again, Auckland is more likely to have a lava apocalypse than an earthquake spree... (dumbasses building ontop of that.....)
  14. omg you found me!!!!! there isn't a smiley that shows my laughing right now. though I would say the flamingo would be another ... wait is that a palm... my bad btw just watched REC a horror movie, its subtitled in greek but seriously one of the best movies ever made
  15. I had a successful 21Ltr local marine (mudflat) tank, the 2 key points I found helped was using live sand, and you need to get to the black stuff underneath, its full of de-nitrifying bacteria. tip 2 is choose your species for hardiness. triplefins and gobies are awesome, most of your common shrimp species are good too I ended up shutting it down as this summer (new house) I wasn't able to keep it as cold as before and was starting to lose the cockles in it. I Cycled for a month with just the live sand, then added some sand gobies, then a couple of weeks later some rocks (with associated livestock) the shrimp were a whim about a month later and did well.
  16. hold the cheese onto it by wrapping it in bacon??

  19. http://www.landcareresearch.co.nz/resources/identification/animals/bug-id/what-is-this-bug/bugs-with-legs/6-legs/cockroaches suposedly there are around 15 species in NZ
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if they go to the brackish wter to release as I tend to find more females closer to brackish water
  21. sucks at the top huh??? lost the requirement to eat cuz theres too much to eat, survive cuz theres nothing to kill you and reproduce since most of our kids survive don't worry though, we will soon overpopulate and start declining
