  1. each to their own, but the thought behind it is the key, check out the homepage
  2. tough lil guys, watch them come into the rocks in heavy surf. they probably thought the ferry was fun
  3. ok, finally got a day off, no missus and no $$$ to do anything. plus have an empty tank with a fully cycled filter. thought "why not go out have a look in the creeks and drains around the Mount" then found my scoop net has been ripped to shreds (mystery) just wondering if anyone has a half decent net I could borrow for a few days. if not i'll just $2 shop butterfly net it, but I'll live in hope
  4. yeah, see it everywhere around here. maybe start a list of plants that are common and not on the list to make it even better (its already the easiest ID page i've found)
  5. what a cool idea. check it out. http://crochetcoralreef.org
  6. sounds like a guy with about the same amount of knowledge as you. the Little blues come ashore whenever they feel like it, and during certain times of the year they are ashore more than out at sea. best to put them near the rocks where they live while ashore, that way if they want to go to sea they will. if not they will head under a rock until they feel safe to continue on to their burrow. If they are Moulting they will be in their nests and will not come out, even if a rat has a go at them (they are more than a challenge for a rat). the mount and leisure island have about 500 odd pairs breeding on them. many are closer than you would think. :sage: anyone who want to come out sometime and join us is welcome and can pm me here, we are always looking for new recruits. no obligation even if you just want to come have a look sometime.
  7. Just thought I'd share what I do in my spare time. I'm a member of the Mount Maunganui Penguin Trust last night went out to set some traps and got a couple of snaps to share. its a bit sad to see how much rubbish is around the rocks.
  8. just got asked to ID Cotula Coronopifolia (golden buttons) found in the wild noticed it is not in the plant database.
  9. wonder if I could design a head attachment for a kitchen whiz....
  10. nah just for making pretty things outa shells
  11. fair enough, didn't require a smartass reply to make me look stoopid
  12. I never have, just trying to find a name that is not Dremel. btw thank you for your help.. now can you start with the smart ass reply, your kinda freaking me out how normal that was.
  13. ok gotta ask, opinions on "The Almighty Johnsons" imo a bunch of rich self absorbed idiots getting given money to show how bad they can act and how bad they can write. (this is a family friendly forum) wouldn't care if it wasn't for the additional taxpayer funding.
  14. Trying to get a cheap hand grinder for my GF's birthday, but I've only ever know them as "dremels" which is a brand name that is rather expensive. I only want a cheapy to see if my missus actually enjoys using it without wasting heaps of money. real problem is I don't have a clue what to search for, I try "Hand grinder" or Hand drill" and end up with heavy powertools, try dremel and only get brand name stuff. what else would you call it?
  15. isn't the forum a permanent 24/7 FNZAS meeting??? also why would it be illegal?

    200l drum

actually on the same thing, I have been offered a plastic drum that held teat cream for cows (yeah they sell it in 200L) (sercret tip, its the same stuff as they call 'moo goo' in the beauty shops), would that do anything?, its better than the fertilizer option i'm assuming.
  17. cheers alanmin4304 , should a made that more clear in my post
  18. depends on my mood, being a dumbass can be just as fun for everyone involved.
  19. loving the photos!! keep them coming.
  20. I would stop using the meds. also the only sure way to sex an angel is to see her "bits", male pointy, female blunt. I normally do this by heavily feeding them and providing right conditions. if its your first time breeding them I would invest in a proven pair, or get a group and let them pair up naturally also it is normally best to add a male to a female, and ensure she is in full condition first.
  21. ummm 'Hypancistrus debilittera' aka Columbian Zebra pleco L129 I hate pleco guessing.

    welcome you be
  23. I would assume the male has beaten her. how did you determine sex? keep your water clean, avoid any temperature shocks. continue with the Furan - 2 until you have finished the prescribed doseage. also monitor your Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels just incase you get a mini cycle due to the use of anti bacterials. stop using liquid fryfood, and give her something like live mozzie larvae, white worms or a good quality pellet food. the fryfood will not be nourishing her enough. find a way to monitor the temperature as the aim is to keep everything stable atm other than that, just wait and monitor. hate to say it but you may lose her, she sound pretty beaten up good luck
  24. if you removed the Smart bit, you would just be an ass.
