ummmm... if they ain't here, then what was the mantis shrimp I found under Kauri point wharf in Tauranga harbour?? was about 6cm long and nasty looking. seemed common enough but that was about 7 years ago. looked kinda like this but less colourfull, more khaki green colour yes seriously.

NEVER play with your pH. leave that to experts ONLY (I consider myself an expert and I'm scared of the off the shelf stuff) if your really worried about pH (most fish don't care) then add some limestone to raise pH or driftwood to drop pH. that way it happens slowly and a little more naturally. the pH readings you read are for wild caught fish, most fish you buy are commercially bred, they are even breeding discus in Asia in pH as high as 7.8 supposedly stress coat should only be used when adding new water to the tank, and only enough to treat the water your adding, not the whole tank. it is mainly to remove the chlorine. if your fish are healthy they should not need fake slime.

Pumpkin is one of the best, a few more rasbora's and you'll be near the full stocking, remember the Adult size of the rams and Bristlenose. you may have trouble with 2 Bnose if they end up being 2 males.

good rule of thumb is to only mix short bodies with short bodies and long bodies with long bodies. also considering adult size i recommend 70L per fish. in my opinion leave the goldfish in the pond, they will be happier there. easier to to tropicals anyday.

have some fun, some fish like certain things some don't. I like to add a single sardine (from a can) to my paste mixes, and 1 kiwifruit. I know a bristlenose that will not eat pumpkin but destroys cucumber and his girlfriend won't touch it. some people swear by kumura.

my theory im working on atm (would love a couple of tanks to be able to experiment on) is that this means that adding the bottled bacteria every time you do a water change would actually be detrimental as it would compete directly with the REAL nitrifiers.

:gpo2: all of the above is good advice, ime rarely caused by infectious agent, adding medications will do more harm than good. do a water change asap and enjoy. I have had problems with goldfish, guppies and Danios especially , probably due to inbreeding.
