  1. It's just a little way up the river mouth, next to the boat ramp, so I would say almost no chance of further contamination, but that's not really the point. I'll rest easier letting MAF decide if it's important or not.
  2. I knew there was one that was ok, but how to identify it... Might just call DOC and let them suss it out. I hope that it is an ok one, because the area was SMOTHERED with this stuff.
  3. Hey all, The wife and I went for a drive to a local river (looking for driftwood) and noticed some little fish swimming around some oxygen weed. There were two different kinds, and both appear to be on the banned list. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?p=723http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?p=2698 Before I call DOC, and make myself look stupid, are there any oxygen weed species that are not banned?
  4. Animal Antics by Bayfair is easily the best, followed by KiwiPetz in Fraser Cove  , Then there's Animates (First Ave, I think). Animal Antics have always shown great service and with good pricing, KiwiPetz can get in some pretty rare species, and Animates has some dirt cheap deals. Pop by Living Art's Nature's Place in Historic Village for an amazing showcase and some great second hand gear for sale (/End Shameless Plug).

    hi

Hi ya I met you at the meeting, im the guy going bald who everyone makes jandal jokes at (well deserved :smot: ) I work at a local ITM store so if you are planning on buying the plywood, I'm sure I can get it for you much cheaper than Bunnings
  6. Air wouldn't be getting in from the length of hose... I find with the CF1200 even if there is a few air bubbles left in from the initial setup/last clean, a good shake will get them out. There is enough pressure that air bubbles don't stay in the pipes for long (2-3 seconds, TOPS).
  7. I have mine fully submersed, I was informed that the water acts as a coolant for the top half. Some people put them on a slant to reduce the heat rising into the control circuits, but i reckon that the little amount of heat that is reduced from the slant isn't significant. :dunno: Just my 2c.
  8. If you need a ride just let me know. Little Miss has gone to the beach instead, and the wife has decided to give this one a miss, so it'll just be me from our little family.
  9. Shall we bring anything? We often end up having afternoon tea anyway... may as well plan something? If not, I'll prob just bring something to keep Shiana from whining :spop:
  10. IMO, anything less than 60L is cruel.
  11. Best of luck Anthony, hope all goes well.
  12. I use door magnets to hold my tank "shell" together
  13. Have you tried your local ITM? They'll be sure to order it in for you
  14. Why would you wait for a team-meeting? I'ld be sneaking in fish...
  15. Any ideas on where to start looking?
  16. So the issue to you, is that she is being punished for acting out, JUST because she had chores to do? The fact that the laptop was shot BECAUSE of HER OUTBURST has nothing to do with it, your beef was that she was expected to do chores? She couldn't even be bothered to return a job application. He's bought her a damn computer. Slaves don't get laptops bought for them. If a slave had a laptop, and the laptop broke, the slave would have to fix it, with their own money. He was doing her a favour, and she was ungrateful.
  17. So... how could the father have destroyed the laptop without upsetting the public? dropped in acid? or saltwater... This fish is just "Browsing the NET" :sml1:
  18. I think it was a farm, not in public. And I didn't see anyone else around, it seems like he was filming this himself. But this got me thinking.... Was it his gun that is setting people off? I see no fault in his actions, but I would love to hear opinions (sorry if my responses get a bit heated, I'm well-known for arguing. ) If he had simply taken the laptop away, would it have been any different? It seems like it was his and she was just using it (purely conjecture) and when she pushed things too far he simply took it away (with bullets )
  19. Go back and listen to everything the dad says. Pay close attention to what has happened. She has pulled this sort of thing before, and was grounded for it. Therefore, the father has tried to deal with this peacefully, to no effect. She used the Facebook privacy settings to hide the comment from her parents - She knew it was going to cause trouble. He had spent a fair bit of time the previous day updating her software, using his own money. I have seen worse behaviour from my niece recently, so I think you are underestimating how temperamental some teenagers can be. (she's since pulled her head in, and I'm sure the girl in this case has pulled her head in too) Wow Zuri, with that I would have expected you to have a very different answer. I helped my mum out with the bills with my earnings also, but I didnt leave home as early as you did. I'm nearly 24 and I have a 6 year old. If she pulled the same crap that this guy's daughter did, She would be grounded, and her lappy would be up on Trademe (not shot at). Keep in mind, this guy isn't controlling his daughter, he is punishing her for shaming him. And instead of physically punishing her, he's simply taking away one of her luxuries.
  20. They lasted 5 days. I changed the tablet daily, even though they hadnt touched it. Tank was cycled, water test came back with the only abnormality being a slightly low ph (6.1 instead of the normal 7)
  21. Can you send in some pics of the heater? If its anything like the aqua one heaters, we may be able to tell the temp without the numbers, based on the number of squares and where the red line is up to.
  22. My first two died (I was feeding them novapleco algae waffers) because they wouldn't touch the food. LFS put it down to "new tank - they probably starved" I thought it was total BS, and havnt been back to that store since.
