  1. Welcome to the forums, please visit the main site to see if there's a club for you to join up to That Tank's an AquaStyle AR620, right? Your LFS (Local Fish Store) should not have sold you Angels for such a small tank (Yes sorry, 90L is small) Angel's will need about 200L plus. If you get any questions, please feel free to ask. We're all dedicated to our fish and we would be happy to help with getting you up to speed.
  2. Done a quick google image search. Is each species limited to certain colours, or are certain colours just more likely with certain species? Apisto pertensis very odd shape, various colours shown. prob wont get this one. Apisto agassizi very nice fish, this is the one that I got hooked on. Apisto cacatuoides orange and grey with red fins. Very nice fish, especially the longer fins. Apisto hongsloi orange and pink, not so great looking. Apisto macmasteri grey with colour splashes (no better way to explain it really). Not as defined as the other species. Apisto trifasciata various colours, but definitive outward fins and a black strip down it's side. Very nice, especially in blue. Apisto nijsseni Def. not this one. I would stress that a patch is a disease. Are there any that are incompatible with others? I'm thinking Agassizi and/or Cacatuoides and/or Trifasciata. Knowing my luck, I have chosen the three hardest to keep or the most expensive? I have had a look at some of the sites mentioned, but none really have a "beginners look here" function, except the same sort of beginner info that applies to ANY fishkeeping. It seems that they like slightly lower pH and soft water. How do I check a water's hardiness? Many cichlid keepers have mentioned that they use an RO/DI system. Is this required for freshwater? I thought this was more of a seawater requirement. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  3. I've been looking into Apistogramma (Dwarf Cichlids) and I would like to know a lot more about them. Does anyone know a good site to find out what required to keep them happy? I'm thinking environment, tank mates, ph, food, planted/non-planted, anything you can throw at me. I'm gonna see if MTS will strike.
  4. I had a friend in 7th Form Calculus who technically failed her midterm, despite getting every merit and excellence question correct. Our Teacher was a legend, so he showed this to us and explained: Under the marking schedule, you had to get 2 specific Achievement questions correct, in order to get Achieved. To get Merit, you had to get the Merit questions AND Achievement. To get Excellence, you had to get the Excellence questions, Merit, AND Achieved. She missed ONE of the two specific questions, (she miss-read a x for a + ("Hey Laura, what's 2 x 3?" "6" "Then why did you write 5?" " "). He managed to talk to the other markers, and her merit questions were "counted down" to achievement, but it took a lot of doing.
  5. That's hardly a rant, it's a fair point. They don't even say failed anymore, it's "Not YET Achieved". Give the kids a fighting chance at life: "Work hard or fail." simple
  6. Thanks! I also found about 10 little silver fry swimming around, which I'm guessing are guppies! But I sold the four guppies that I had on Saturday, so the fry are left to fend for themselves. The Tetra's aren't eating them, so I'm thinking they'll be ok.
  7. Your Local ITM should be able to get whatever building requirements you need. If it was my tank, I would want screws rather than liquid nails.
  8. Well, after a couple of months of no activity, and my main male Bristlenose is in a hospital tank, getting treated for fin rot, I got some more adult BN for my main tank, one male and two additional females. Within the day, He's guarding eggs :happy1:
  9. The wife would spend more than I would.
  10. Not attempted can be re-sat, without affecting your grade point average
  11. I bought a breeding pair. In my tank NOTHING happened. He's now in a sick tank, so I got a couple of new females and a new male. Within a day the new male was guarding eggs. I guess they can go off it if they change tanks. :dunno: This is my first breeding, so I'm very anxious to see how many spawn :happy2:

    hello

Is this a Krib variation? if so, where did you get it? I've been tryin to convince the wife that Kribensis are awesome, but she thinks they're too dark
  13. That's awesome, I'll give it a go.
  14. If only it were that simple... I'ld hate to think what it would cost to keep her pampered while I browse all of the LFS in Auckland... :nilly:
  15. Dude, that's going to be awesome !drool:. How do you get the plants to grow on the wood? My moss has to be pinned down, and doesn't seem at all interested in growing from the wood.
  16. If you see a silver car swerving all over the motorway, with a red-faced :an!gry pregnant woman slapping the male driver with a jandal , you'll all know why :happy1:

    hello

Hi Logan, Welcome to the forums.
  18. From what I have heard from our local club and here on the forums, both HFF shops are a must-visit. Personally I would go out of my way to visit them all, but I think I'ld get the jandal-slap from the wife if I told her I planned on doing it :slfg:
  19. Graham said he gave it a miss, he didn't say Give it a miss.
  20. I had checked that link, the contact numbers are a little out of date... I guess in a way that answered my question...
  21. I have seen a beautiful Platinum Gourami, and was wondering if it is compatible with Golden Honey Dwarf Gourami's. Has anyone had any experience with these fish? My tank currently has Bristlenose catfish, Golden Honey Dwarf Gourami, and Neon Tetras. I sold my Guppies (As awesome as they were, they limited what I could put in the tank quite dramatically).
  22. Please don't give up on Tropical's just yet. Your fish lasted nearly 29 years! Although it's hard to look at that tank sometimes, I'm sure there's a fish in some little pet shop tank that would love having a dedicated owner to come home to. How many fish can you honestly recall that have lived such a great long life? You gave Sweety something that no-one else could. Just look at how surprised most of us were at Sweety's age
  23. wahoo :bounce: can't wait. Do I bring the subs on the day, or how do we go about joining?
