  1. Feed slivers, cut thin. One every day or two. It may mean that only one of them will get a chance to try it, but it's better than the alternative...
  2. Well I've had her a week (I THINK she's a girl) and she's getting along swimmingly with everyone. No1's annoying her, she's not annoying anyone else, and it's still my platinum's that are eating my guppy fry, not my Krib.
  3. Don't worry Shiana... He won't bite.... :sml1:
  4. Oh, secret's out now!! Happy Birthday!!
  5. Ok, so were your fish all added at the same time, or were they added after the guppies? I have heard some cases of the Kribs ONLY getting aggressive during spawning, when they are ensuring the other fish stay away from their young. Then there's some fish who get nippy at everyone... My guppies stay near the surface, with the strong current from the filter. My Krib stays near the bottom / mid, around the driftwood. They seem content to leave each other alone, at least for now.
  6. Hi All, My little brother bought me a Kribensis on the weekend. I have put the Krib into my community tank with guppies, gourami, swordtails, and neon tetras. My local pet store warned me that "my guppies would be toast", as the Krib will be very nippy at the tails. Other than chasing a couple of fry, which easily got away, the Krib has kept to himself (as I expected). My LFS had me very worried when they warned me about mixing them, so I have my other tank on standby ready to move him if I have to. (My LFS wouldn't sell him to me until they were confident I had a backup plan - they're awesome! ) Has anyone else mixed Kribs with guppies? Can I get some success or failure stories please?
  7. Please excuse my ignorance (I use canister filters), but I thought that sumps were set up to prevent flooding? The tank and sump on the left picture show normal operation: Out take on the right flowing into the sump, then pumped back up on the left side. The right side of the picture shows a malfunction, where the water in the tank drops to below the outtake. The sump should have enough room in it to take the water up to this point, preventing flooding, right?
  8. I have in my community tank: Platinum Gourami, Guppies (LOTS), Swordtails, and Neon Tetras, and a baby bristlenose (don't want to add the parents until the plants have grown a lot more, and establish good roots). The Platinum's have been seen to eat the fry whole. Guppy fry are either fast or dead.
  9. +1 I have a 1100 x 450 x 500. My 1220 x 500 x 500 looks extremely larger, even though its only about 50L more.
  10. Have you ever let them know, so that they can get better stock in?
  11. I think it's more in case the water is in there for quite a while before it is used - could get bugs etc, which would become unsafe for human consumption. I wouldn't risk it, go get a nice big tank from your Local ITM
  12. Multiple Tank Syndrome. And it will strike
  13. Hey all, I'm going to be over in Hamilton later in the month and was wondering if I could get some recommendations from the locals on the LFS. I would prefer to see all of them, but if the wife gets her jandal out, I want to make sure I at least see the good ones. :digH:
  14. Could be a loose wire, could be a starter needs replacing (generally free with new bulbs if bought retail) Best to take it to an electrician. Depending on where you got your bulbs replaced, they may be able to take a look at it.
  15. Very nice.... puts my tank to shame...
  16. Well he wouldn't use a cheap Warehouse one, would he?
  17. My 6 year old daughter is already reading books that I wouldn't have started until 3rd form. She's currently reading Magician, by Raymond E Feist. Great book. I'm going to get her Stella's book at some stage...
  18. I use Sika (Local Building Supplies store) RTV Clear (Because it has no mould inhibitors, which can affect your bio filtration)
  19. I was losing a few when I first started out. Water parameters were fine. I found that moving a bubble stone around to where they were dying reduced the deaths quite significantly. (not adding another, just moving it) I was losing one a day, from a batch of 60ish. They've stopped dying, but their growth has slowed right down now.... Anyway, your new pics are starting to look a bit more like mine. Could be lighting? :dunno: dunno about bloated bellies, mine didn't have that
