  1. Wow guys, my collection is tiny compared to yours, but I have a budget... maybe in a few years I will be able to add a Blue Phantom or Medusa to my collection. Anyway, here goes... 2. Yes, the gourami and the kribs get along fine. The gourami are slightly larger
  3. Hey all, It's been a long time coming, but Vicki has been asking me to upload the pics for the latest tank, so here they are! Then with a hood: Now today with latest plants:
  4. Well I've added a couple more kribs, and they aren't interested in the guppies at all. One of the kribs will occasionally chase one of the others, but there's no nipping involved. All in all, I'm glad they all get along.
  5. I have, not fun. Flicked him off, it didn't even swell up, so I'm guessing there's no danger of infection or venom to humans.
  6. Don't worry Caryl, not only am I going to be visiting Royce for options on Merchandise (Shirts, hats etc) and artwork (For the promo cards - Huge project but will be awesome when we pull it off! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: ), I am also going to work on some articles for your next magazine. Won't be tediously long, but should be an interesting read :cofn: - I hope. I won't post them on the forums, that way people will be more encouraged to read the magazine too! (Again, hopefully :slfg: )
  7. Looks like a type of Orb web spider. Painful bite.
  8. A big thank you to the Waikato Aquarium Society Inc for putting on an awesome conference! Sorry I didn't get to stick around for long on Sunday, but I did get to visit the Goldfish Bowl and World of Water before we headed home. :happy1: We had lots of fun, I'm sure the others did too
  9. LOL. Goes to show how many of us check the dates....
  10. ...and everyone is sitting there, going "riiiiiight...." Sorry about your fish Adrienne. If I knew how to keep fighters alive, I would offer advice, but they seem to have a way of just giving up. Maybe it's the stock we have, who knows?
  11. You should see it now, it's amazing. !drool:
  12. How often have you been doing water changes? What ammonia have you been using? From what I have heard, Carbon's only needed to remove meds from the water.
  13. I actually saw a doco on this a few nights ago. They're biodegradable with access to oxygen. They won't degrade if they're buried in a landfill
  14. I'm not so sure about the forum posting... I'm not a fan of forums. This is the only one I read and post on, and that's because it has relevant and useful information - A lot of forums do not. Interesting to see that a lot of fishkeepers are computer/technically-minded. Obviously there will be some that are not, but it looks like there are grounds for a connection between the two.
  15. Hi all, I just read a post about someone working in IT. At the bottom of the post, another member mentioned that they are also in IT. I remembered another post from someone who had their car covered in aerials... This got me thinking... Is there a link between Fishkeepers and computer enthusiasts? I'm pretty keen on both  Be interesting to see how many of us are and how many are not :dunno:

    piranhas

    Doesn't mean they should.
  17. Sheepsnana

    piranhas

Because sometimes fish adapt. And piranha is a fish NZ can definitely do without. I like being able to go for a swim...
  18. Any luck? I'm guessing your using wireless internet?
  19. Dark gravel / substrate will bring out better colours
  20. I've had some up on Trademe recently, also ended up doing a 20 for $20 deal. Not a large demand for them atm, and lots of crap fish up there too. Make sure your buyer allows you to see the fish before you buy them so you can check that they're in good condition. I'm selling more of my plain ones and breeding my tuxedos instead. However, this seems to have backfired, since the pet shops are now full of them...
  21. Platy. It's a boy (judging from the anal fin) and not a small one by the pic, but still no sword to speak of... Also, Swordtails dorsal fins are normally rectangular rather than triangular. ...I spend a lot of time just staring at my fish.
  22. Hi, I have both a CF1000 and a CF1200 from Aqua One. Both are silent unless flow is restricted. Check that your intake isn't blocked and check your impeller is free from blockages. You should be able to tell if it's bubbles or not by tilting the Canister back and forth, like blueether said. If it's bubbles the same noise will be intensified quite a bit, as more bubbles are released. Hope this helps.
  23. Soaking Driftwood Mine still has not sunk. I have tied it to a big flat rock using fishing nylon. Looks cool when it's trying to float but can't get away.
  24. That's to find out whether or not they will eat it at all. If you know they will eat it, and you're trying to stop them bloating (and dying), then small amounts at a time is best. Yes, but some people think it kills off some harmful stuff too. IMO fresh is best. Straight out of Mum's garden (Then run like hell when she finds out :slfg: )
