  1. The plants will appreciate the cold water change anyway, I do the same except 40pct a week and it drops the temp about 6c but only takes about an hour to heat back up. I do want to purchase one of these - http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/f ... 821932.htm before I get discus so I can use the mixer on my tap to set the temp right.
  2. Chloramine is way more toxic to fish than chlorine. I was just reading up on it and it says it won't disappear naturally no matter what you do, only way to remove it is to use a water conditioner. Easiest way to know if your water contains chloramine is to test your tap water for ammonia and if it contains some more than likely your water treatment plant uses it instead of chlorine. Or you could just ring them, by law they have to tell you what your tap water contains.
  3. Chlorine will disappear within 24 hours if you have an airstone in there, chloramine takes up to a week I think.
  4. There's pants in there?
  5. From what I know all those cichlids prefer being in a colony type of group?
  6. Oh well, can't wait to see this as a marine setup though. Are you going reef?
  7. Is that good eating size? :slfg:
  8. :rotf: What did you expect from something that resembles pet food? Poor quality pet food at that!
  9. You really shouldn't use any medicine unless you are 100% sure the fish need it. Especially if you are not following dosing instructions as it will more than likely cause more harm than good. Also salt and higher temp works a lot better to cure white spot/ich in my experience.
  10. I did until recently, only stopped because I wanted to know if it was the cause of my guppies dying. Turns out it wasn't though. My father used to add normal old table salt to over 30 tanks with every water change as a preventative measure against fungal and some parasitic infections and swears by it. 1 tsp/2 Gal.
  11. He's going to sell them all to me for a crazy amount of my hard earned money!!! I wish :slfg:
  12. Not in the Marlborough Sounds, it's always pretty warm up there.
  13. Why did you add any white spot treatment? Are they showing any signs of whitespot?
  14. You might want to google it purplex, what he said makes sense. Prophylactic: A preventive measure. The word comes from the Greek for "an advance guard," an apt term for a measure taken to fend off a disease or another unwanted consequence. A prophylactic is a medication or a treatment designed and used to prevent a disease from occurring.
  15. Yeah, they're a pretty awesome band. Five Finger Death Punch - The Bleeding
  16. &c:ry You can't! This has to be the best planted setup in Southland!!!
  17. Yeah, I would never use the 840's for planted tanks. I will try the power-glo's out for a month and see how it affects growth. I also can get a bulk deal on those bulbs so will definitely buy some and see how they go aswell.
