  1. Why the undergravel filters?
  2. Re-scaped your rank?? Why does that make me think you were playing with your poo :slfg:
  3. It's too slow if you need to do an emergency water change or are changing quite a bit of water at a time. It usually takes 24 hours to dissolve and heat ASW.
  4. First I recommend getting more silver dollars and definitely at least 5 more clown loaches before you worry about any other fish.
  5. Yeah, 2 fx5 or 2 aqua one nautilus 2700 would probably do it, but for a fraction of that cost you could setup a sump which will work lots better.
  6. For a tank that size you will really either need to run a sump as in my opinion even one fx5 wouldn't be able to filter it by itself.
  7. All my aquatic bulb plants I have only buried around half the bulb.
  8. Do you sell the rights for your photos for overseas websites? I'm only asking as I have seen at least one of these pictures on an overseas website without any watermarks.
  9. That marbled dragonet is amazing! Were all these photos taken in NZ?
  10. You don't need to add any biological supplement to kick start the process. A shrimp will work just make sure you keep it in a filter sock or even some nylon stockings so it doesn't break down and make a mess. Another better option is getting some pure ammonia from a chemist or a hardware supply store and using that. That way you can control what levels of ammonia you need to get your live rock upto peak biological filtration condition from the start. Just remember once it has cycled you still need to feed the bacteria else it will die off.
  11. You will need the 90cm one, which will cost you pretty much 2/3 of your budget alone. There is no point starting a reef tank with a budget in mind in my opinion. General concensus is it will cost around $2500 for every 100ltrs of water, this isn't even buying top range equipment. The silicone will probably be pink as its been stained by some sort of chemical treatment in the past. Regarding the bracing, it really depends on the dimensions and thickness of the glass. If I were you I would just buy new glass or get a new tank made from someone locally, it's pretty cheap and will look a lot better than using an old tank.
  12. Here you go; http://www.fish-street.com/coralbox_m1_ ... m_lighting
  13. With igloo you only pay for extra channels if and when you want them, otherwise it acts as a freeview box.
  14. Sounds like mating behavior to me.
  15. Where did you order your chemi pure elite from mate?
  16. From my understanding you need a cylindrical shaped tank so they are constantly able to move without hitting the sides, basically if they stop moving, they die.
  17. Why would he definitely need a sump? Lots of great reefs around that run without a sump, don't get me wrong I think a sump is a great way to run any tank but it's not exactly needed if you don't mind having equipment in the display tank.
  18. I must have about 15 digital timers running in my house and not one of them makes a noise or has failed, I have used analog in the past and they were annoying as heck with the ticking noise they made.
  19. I'm not sure about those skimmers but with my tunze I know lifting it a bit higher in the chamber is supposed to work.
  20. Looking good dude! Regarding the sand - I recently removed all the sand out of my tank and other than a bit of algae growing on the glass it's pretty much disappeared within a couple of weeks, I only had a shallow sand bed and never worried about vacuuming it, in hindsight I think this is what led to my gha issues. So I recommend giving it a stir/vacuum with every water change or running bare bottom.
