Most people dont have access to one of them so the first two points still stand. I was going to say using a remote flash would help but as this is out or reach of most people decided not to. Getting close to the class cuts down on reflections, both from the use of a flash and from any external light. You shouldn't have to triple the amount of light above the tank to get ok photos without a flash. And another good tip is try to shoot parallel to the glass, this lessens distortion.

*sighs* this is getting really depressing

I'm thinking the same as MarkLB, that you are cleaning all the bacteria out. Try not cleaning the sponge for a few weeks (and the substrate) and see if the ammonia levels come down. -
Interesting research for Shrimps BREEDERS!!!!
blueether replied to SGTTS's topic in New Zealand Natives
Hi SGTTS, nice to meet you as well. They are fantastic little things. Last summer I saw some (a good dozen or two) some 150-160km up the waikato/waipa river system in one of the mountain feed streams on Pirongia. I can get a ~100l tank and I have about a dozen clear plastic bins or around 25l to play with. I also want to get my common bullies to breed, but that is another topic in it's self. -

I hope it all come right for you. You say you are cleaning the tank regularly, how often and exactly what are you doing? Too much cleaning is not good for the microbes, thus not good for the water quality. -
The best ways to get good shots are: 1/ Get the camera as close to the glass as possible. 2/ Don't use a flash unless you are very close to the glass. 3/ Have bright lights in the aquarium and turn all other lights outside of the aquarium off. 4/ Clean the glass, inside and out.

The site is down from here as well (same error page) The trace is normal, the data gets all the way to the US and then looks like it is dropped in the data centre (this is normal-ish) Edit: it is also not uncommon for servers not to reply to ping. This make it harder to sort this sort of problem out -

no, different things (one is the 'word' size in the CPU (64), the other is how large of a packet ping is sending to the server) -

should work then... your computer knows where the server is... reboot windows, always helps with odd little problems that windows gets from time to time -

blueether replied to BikBok's topic in The Off Topic Fishroom
if that link worked thaen it is not a routing issue, that leaves DNS from the comand prompt (see above) what does nslookup fishpond.co.nz return The error will be because the cert is singed http://www.fishpond.co.nz but the content was being served from http://184.72.224.41/ (the server's IP address, not it's [human readable] name) all in all nothing to worry about. Edit: The host file is at c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts You might have to edit that, will see... -

bik bok you could also try this link http://184.72.224.41/ Have you rebooted the router? Is fishpond listed in this file C:\system32\drivers\etc\hosts (I think that that is the correct path, dont use windows to check) -
How many did you drop to get that one usable half? :digH:

That isn't the HD one in the http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1362692 thread, cant see any of them on trademe.

be careful with that assumption, or you could cook your fish. Does the heater have a light that turns on while it is heating? If so turn the heater down until that turns off as you only want about 25 deg anyway. Ich will pass (with the use of salt) even at 15 deg in a week or two. Keep up the salt for a week after the last spot has gone

The issue that I have with driftwood off the beach: I collect too much of it, and my 4ft tank is too small.
-
Late update: I talked to my father about the water quality that weekend and the chlorine in the town supply was about 4 times what it normally tests at, that would be the cause then.

Ugh... I think my guppies all have Ich...
blueether replied to aquariumbeginner32's topic in Coldwater
I believe the salt ratio for ich. is 3g per litre of water (1/2 teaspoon per litre) -
toxic blood?

That is what I would do for a small tank if I had another running.
