  1. This is the closest kokopu I could find and that is labled as a giant kokopu: This banded has very broken patterning: The population of giants that I know of further down the Waipa is 23km in as the crow flies so I guess that there could be giants this far inland (the article that I saw them mentioned in suggested that that population could be non-diadromous)
  2. I wondered if it was a giant as well, but the bands do go all the way up and I dont know if they are 'random' enough for a giant. I did think that the pattern was too deep/3D for a banded. It was caught some 150km from the sea, but at a low elevation ~60m. I know there is a small population of giants a bit further down the waipa in a small stream. Grab a torch, net and bucket and see what you can find?
  3. Oddly BE was the name of the ISP I was a forum/irc mod for
  4. Nymox, Can you post (or PM) the full stats for both the working modem and the new one while working? Have you tride to run the new modem on adsl1 (G.DMT), disable T1.413 disable G.Lite make sure it is on annex A not L or M, enable bitswap, disable SRA disable Trellis disable PHyRe
  5. The Cran's male is back at it with a different female. He is displaying and is black as black. I cant get photos of the spawning this time as he has blocked up the entrance to the cave/nest that is right at the front of the tank Edit: Displaying in full colour:
  6. So they do something to get it to connect? Ask to have interleaving on the line (error correction) and see if that helps. It sounds more like a config problem, could be your modem or the DSLAM (at the exchange) or in their settings. Does the router loose sync and if so is immediately after they hang up ? Does the old modem still connect? and if so at what speed? /me dusts off his UK ISP forum mod hat
  7. Went out to the stream I normally visit on the side of pirongia to get some river sand and rocks for a 2x1x1 tank for my soon to hatch Cran's fry and had a rummage around in stream and hey-presto 10m upstream from where I caught my last torrent fish a year ago I get another, with a large koura under the same rock: Both new and old together (new one is the darker one): Then that night I went out to see if I could get some more older whitebait, and to see if they had got that far yet, in the hope that I would get a banded or two to grow. I first went down to a small creek ~1/2m wide to 1m wide pools and what do I find but 4 or 5 [EDIT]banded Giant* Kokopu the biggest looked to be well over 200mm (maybe giant kokopu?). The smallest one I caught and he is now swimming around with the adult inanga in the 400lt tank. The only problem that it has is it looks as if the large eel that was in the same pool had eaten 2/3rds of his tail. He (?) is slightly smaller than the largest 2 or 3 of the inanga. *thanks Stella for the conformation, the more pics I looked at the more I was thinking Giant Kokopu
  8. on the phone or on the phone to them? What sort of modem is the new one? All filters in place, including on alarm/sky/fax etc ?
  9. I think it was someone a bit bigger than the ~35-40mm male bully as the driftwood cave was pushed apart and the torrent fish looked well fed.
  10. My brother did this but with 1 lt pump bottles, buttons also go well in them
  11. v4? that was the best of the DG834G line, the v5 was crud.
  12. I dont think you can beat the old netgear DG834GT. I brought 4 sky branded ones back from the uk (pick them up for about 10-15GBP second hand) and every one that I have given one to is rapped with them. Dosent solve your problem...
  13. You used yeast? You probably too much of it
  14. I was going to post my requirements for rabbit, but thought I would be frowned at. Much the same as yours but rub down with rosemary and let stand for a while before frying/browning. I dont like fennel or celery so would leave them out. Had a wonderful roast rabbit with garlic and rosemary in a little Italian restaurant where no-one spoke a word of english
  15. Unfortunately the common's eggs have been eaten, possibly by either the torrent fish or the little koura &c:ry
  16. 2 or 3 would be the norm, 1 being failure is imminent. My 4ft in 10mm glass has a factor of about 2.7
  17. Thank you for the lesson I'm not positive where these common bullies came from but they could be from lake Arapuni so might be from a non-diadromous population. The eggs look larger than 1mm and I would say that they are close to the size of the Cran's bully's (why cant I think of a tidy way to shorten that to Cran's's ?) eggs. Stella, will the fry be OK in a tank with just bullies or will I the other species (or even the same) eat them?
  18. but, but... I have had that idea before... not round but none the less
  19. Here is the calculator http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?page_id=1529
  20. Just found a male common with a clutch of eggs in the little 60 lt tank :bounce: From above: From the side, tank has curved corners os there is some distortion:
