I'm not talking about minimising snails here.. I want to get rid of them!... for good!

And your fish survived? or at least didn't die from the snail rid?

Have anyone out there succesfully used a "snail rid" product and eliminated all your snails without damage to fish, plants, etc.? Yes I know about traps, loaches, etc. to minimise snails but just want to hear from someone who have used a snail rid product and their experience. Thanks!

Awesome fish allright.. LFS back home in DK had them and he used to feed them platys... Platys were gone before they could even realize the water tasted salty :lol: Henward would like them I think :sml1:

I think you should sit down and have a long and hard think about what freedom of speech really means. It is perhaps THE most essential part of a free society. And yes if you stand up and say a bunch of crazy things you better be prepared for the reaction it causes and the consequences it has but first of all you must be allowed to stand up and say it! Just to be clear, I am not on anyone's side here (except freedom of speech's side )

Yeah and the powerplug is different don't forget that (same voltage though) I'm mainly buying small eheim stuff.. and then it works out really cheap. Anyone clever about the GST rule when buying overseas? How mush can you buy before risking paying GST to customs here? (I've heard NZD400 but unsure of that)

Horrible slime is ok though (at least the kind I have seen) Looks absolutely horrible but its only a "first wave" of bacteria, then later other bacteria outcompete it and the slime goes away.. I always tend to use wood that has no bark on it.. (stuff hides under the bark... germs and stuff)

Yep as Simon says you got the sexes mixed up.. They sound exactly like the pair I have.. They have spawned several times and had free swimming fry but then suddenly ate them.. The male to female violence got very bad though so had to separate them with a divider.. I can no longer have them together or he will destroy her (they still do the spawning through the divider on a rock though) I am starting to realise that these fish can not often be kept as "a pair". True they will stay together as a pair but if they are not kept with other fish of their own kind that they can direct the aggresion agaist he will direct it at her and she will probably end up dead. Sorry to spoil your fun there mate, hope your pair is different. Good luck! Oh yeah and don't bother with the aquascaping.. they will do it for you! :slfg:

There are heaps on trademe and even better prices on ebay.. I use LED Halogen looking ones that plugs into a standard GU10 240V spotlight fitting.. Bulbs are a bit expensive but it uses hardly any power.

I would put some courgette on a fork and leave it in there overnight. You should be able to see next day if they have been at it..
