    Two Questions

I would expect them to cross breed (my opinion only, I have no experience with these fish)
  2. Angels like laying eggs on internal filters
  3. Goldfish tend to destroy many plants because they nibble away at the base which kills off the rest. Go to your local park or clean waterway and get some oxygen weed from the streams. Otherwise, I found Java fern and water sprite were about the only two plants that lasted any time at all with my goldfish 8)
  4. Hard boiled yolk goes mushy when wet
  5. Probably drunk guys having peeing contests off the end of the wharf
  6. If you put a bit of yolk in a hankie or muslin then squeezed it in the water, the yolk goes through the material. Be very careful though as egg yolk fouls a tank very quickly!

    hello from tga

Welcome from me too. I would like to point out though that just because this is the FNZAS website, belonging to The Fishroom does not make you a member of the FNZAS. You need to join an affiliated club to belong and get membership privileges.
  8. I used a plastic 1kg empty peanut butter jar. Make a hole in the lid big enough to fit an airline tube through. Put a diffuser on the end of it. Make a wire handle around the neck of the jar so you can hang it over the edge of your main tank so extra heating not required. Half fill the jar with required salt mix and eggs, turn the pump on to aerate well and wait. When I wanted naupli, I just turned the air hose off, waited for it all to settle, then used a turkey baster to suck up the naupli which were hovering in the middle. These I squirted into a white hanky over another jar so I could then rinse then drop them into the fry tank by dipping the hanky in. The rest of the mixture from the batser got poured back into the jar and the pump turned back on.

    Hello

Hi there and welcome. Very nice tank you have there. How about altering your profile to include your location? It is always nice to know where members are based and can help if they have questions.

    Hi Folks

Hi FD and welcome. So many fish to choose from! Keri Anne sounds like you need a new boyfriend
  12. Big and ugly hybrids. I would steer clear but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  13. We get ours from Mastertrade and just get bright white or daylight tubes.
  14. Hi Zev, Yes, a big tank is much easier to keep than a small one
  15. If you don't change the carbon it releases all the bad stuff back into the tank. I had Siporax in mine and they were loose (once the bag disintegrated). Putting the sponge on top kept the Siporax in place. The balls will have the most bacteria. I just gently rinsed them when the gunk got too thick. Fill with as many bioballs or Siporax stuff you can.
  16. AquaClears are great. All you have to do it clean the sponge in a bucket, using tank water, when the water flow from the filter drops. The filter will also tend to push the sponge up, knocking the lid off, when it needs a clean. Put the bioballs or whatever in the bottom with the sponge on top. Don't bothre using the carbon bags. One of my AquaClears has been running 10 years and still with the original sponge. Only people who sell the equipment tell you to buy new ones

    Hi all

Hi Cherie and welcome. MTS (multiple tank syndrome) strikes again!
  18. I would like to point out that it was actually written by Pegasus as well. 8)
  19. He copied and pasted Alan
  20. It isn't 'withstanding' the quake he needs to worry about so much as make sure the stand doesn't pitch forward in one. It doesn't take much of a sway to start it toppling, especially a multi-tiered stand like yours dee_jay. A stand like that needs to be bolted to the wall at the top of it. Of course, you might not get quakes in your area but we do here!

    valve

I would have thought the lfs would have them.
  22. Energy saver bulbs. Get hot but no more than long fluoro's. I have nevre had problems growing plants using ordinary bulbs as opposed to expensive aquatic plant ones. Small tanks have the energy savers and big ones have plain bright white or daylight fluoro tubes. Here is a tank with a 2ft fitting on top. Single bulb. Pardon the state of the tank...
