  1. Welcome Mincie. Sounds like it is time for the Levin Aquarium Club to come out of recess!
  2. Think of all the good exercise you will be getting climbing up and down Jude

    Oh My Gosh

Lots of plants, low stocking levels and rigorous weekly water changes and you do not need a pump or filter.
  4. You're welcome. Daughter in law Dena was able to get it small enough. I could only get it down to 10.3kb and not the required 8kb or less.
  5. I have LOTS of electric yellow fry if you want some More is better with the Malawis as it does cut down serious fights
  6. Sanity is highly overrated  Welcome back

    A pic to share

and very nice it is too
  8. Plus it is difficult to re-seal a repaired heaterstat. Much safer, and cheaper, to buy another.
  9. The competitions mentioned under Gallery (and not being utilised at the moment) are for FNZAS members only. This means you must belong to an affiliated FNZAS club to be eligible. A new feature that I, for one, keep forgetting is there  ) If you just want a general album to show off your pictures, try a site like www.photobucket.com.
  10. Hi Alex and welcome. You will have great fun with the Kapi-Mana Club I am sure

    Carbon

What do you want it for? You only need to use carbon if you want to remove meds from the tank, or for short term use. In this case, you don't use much very often so cost is not an issue. Very expensive to use all the time though.
  12. Have a look here as it has a great description of the differences and names... http://www.thekrib.com/Fish/Algae-Eaters/

    livebearer show

The Fish Show is open to all FNZAS members. This means you must be a member of an affiliated club. The host club provides small bare tanks (heated and with airlines etc) and people bring their fish in bags or containers, not tanks. Fish are displayed one to a tank (unless they are entered as a breeding pair). Here is what the NZKA Show stand looks like for their Fish Shows...
  14. Hi from me too - I need no introduction
  15. How acidic is your tap water? If already so you need not alter it at all. Much easier.
  16. If you can't get hold of your club breeding co-ordinator, any affiliated FNZAS member will do. I would have counted them for you Loopy but the trip south was cancelled so we won't be passing through Just re-read your message and realise you are asking for someone to do it, not asking what to do  How about bagging 10 and taking them down for Gordon at Critter Kingdom to count and sign off? Or take the bag to Marcel at work. If you can't get someone to come to the fish, take the fish to someone

    Bristle nose eggs.

Depends how much room you have for several hundred bouncing baby bristlenoses  The males are pretty good at guarding the eggs and the fry don't seem to get eaten as much as livebearer fry - possibly cos they are a bit bigger or not so tasty with spines. If you decide to move the eggs it is important to have a good steady flow of air going over them to replicate the dad fanning them constantly.

    livebearer show

Had planned to but unfortunately have since had to put in an apology. I am trying to organise a group entry from Marlborough though Some of our members have some very nice platies!
  19. Aha you are right Mystic. It is post pics that have to be online. Guys I have sent you both emails

    Bristle nose eggs.

I would leave them. The fry don't take to being moved very well either when still very small.
  21. The pic has to be stored online as far as I know. You can't upload it direct from your computer (could be wrong though)
