  1. He/she sent me a PM Sharn. The tank has only been set up a week but a matured filter was used plus some water from previous tank. Clown loaches need a mature tank vtec8u and I suspect the kuhlis do too. Any possibility you can return all these fish until the tank matures some more?

    New PIKES!!!!

Of course we have bread. You seem to have some odd preconceptions about NZ  Unfortunately we have the big takeaway chain stores throughout the country. You can find their rubbish alongside any road. Hot chips describes chips like you have with fish and chips to differentiate them from potato chips like snack chips (kettle fries etc) you eat from a packet. Lots of sauces here, tomato, ketchup, Worchestershire, soy, tartare etc - plus many I bet you have never heard of. Wait until you try kumera chips You can buy viengar here, you just can't ask for it at the takeaway shop so always have your own handy and you will be fine. Anyone willing to offer sirkus some puha and pakeha?
  3. Nice to know your neons are spawning but why do you have so many meds being used altogether in one tank? You should NEVER mix medications!
  4. Hmm, all fish that stay close to the substrate. Possibly gill flukes or some othre infection. Do you regularly vacuum the substrate when you do water changes? You might have a bad spot in the substrate.
  5. I agree with suphew. They can cope with slow changes, it is the fast ones that do them in
  6. I prefer to see goldfish in a pond as they are messy fish and are usually kept in tanks (or bowls  ) that are way too small for them. The fancier goldfish don't cope outside in cold winters though.

We have the same takeaways available as you do but, as stated, without the mushy peas and vinegar.
  8. I answered you in the welcome section
  9. Hi Michele. It sounds like your fish has fungus. Med names and availability differ from country to country so go and find one that says it treats fungus. This may have been a result of the poor water quality as fungus is a secondary infection. If it is the bottom dwellers getting it, it is usually because of the substrate. Either you are not vacuuming it well enough or it is too sharp for the fish's mouths and barbels.
  10. I would be selling the cat poo on Trademe as a good fish fry food I too love those red line rasboras but they are a bit expensive for me! Welcome to the fishroom 8)

    Hi There

    Welcome to the fishroom
  12. Swords and platies will definitely interbreed.
  13. You could have made betta patties!
  14. Make sure you don't get caught as it is illegal to collect sand from most beaches
  15. I assume they are doing the polka?
  16. My Fluvals were very quiet when new but got louder as they aged (despite new impellers). They also blocked easily and had to be pulled apart and cleaned every couple of weeks. My Jebo 819's have been running silently for 8 months now. They are so quiet I have to put my hand on them to feel the vibrations to ensure they are running, the water flow is just as good as it was to start with and I have yet to clean either of them.
  17. and platies and guppies are fine together
  18. I assume you have some of both sexes? 8) If so, what size tank are they in and how much plant? Platies are livebearers who will drop fry every 4 - 6 weeks but most get eaten in a community tank if they don't have plenty of plant to hide in.

    Gidday!

My apologies, I should have told you how I knew
  20. Guppies only grow about 3cm and are a good community fish. The angels would love eating their tails and so, perhaps would the fighter. Plecs need very large tanks (growing up to 2ft) so are not usually in the same tank as small fish like guppies (which are generally kept in smaller tanks). Neons and danios would be fine.

    Gidday!

Female. The ones in the second pic are male at the top and female below him I think. Ira ought to be able to tell you. He is an expert on pearl gouramis
  22. I would also suspect something sucking on nice tender new leaves
  23. I recommend Jebo filters. I have 819's on 250L tanks and think they are great. Good price too.
  24. I am sure I have pics somewhere as they were in a past Aquarium World magazine. Lots of people covered in mud
