Air bubbles are small and harmless. The gaseous bad bubbles are a lot bigger and stink when they break the surface. I have deep substrate in parts of my tank and every now and then get a pocket of big bubbles released when I siphon. Doesn't bother the fish as the bubbles are contained until they hit the surface.

Easier to do regular maintenance including using a siphon in the gravel. The snails work by burrowing through the substrate and releasing the gases before they cause problems. Regular gravel siphoning does the same thing - more thoroughly. You usually only get the gas problem in very deep substrate as it compacts over time.

Rummy nose tetras are always in demand if you want to try breeding something that isn't 'easy' but not 'impossible' Any of the small tetras, rasboras and barbs could be bred in a 2ft tank.

Lots of sauces here, tomato, ketchup, Worchestershire, soy, tartare etc - plus many I bet you have never heard of. Wait until you try kumera chips You can buy viengar here, you just can't ask for it at the takeaway shop so always have your own handy and you will be fine. Nice to know your neons are spawning but why do you have so many meds being used altogether in one tank? You should NEVER mix medications!

Hmm, all fish that stay close to the substrate. Possibly gill flukes or some othre infection. Do you regularly vacuum the substrate when you do water changes? You might have a bad spot in the substrate.

I agree with suphew. They can cope with slow changes, it is the fast ones that do them in

I prefer to see goldfish in a pond as they are messy fish and are usually kept in tanks (or bowls :evil: ) that are way too small for them. The fancier goldfish don't cope outside in cold winters though.

We have the same takeaways available as you do but, as stated, without the mushy peas and vinegar.

Hi Michele. It sounds like your fish has fungus. Med names and availability differ from country to country so go and find one that says it treats fungus. This may have been a result of the poor water quality as fungus is a secondary infection. If it is the bottom dwellers getting it, it is usually because of the substrate. Either you are not vacuuming it well enough or it is too sharp for the fish's mouths and barbels.
