  1. Just now I've counted 15 fry..... I will be happy to sell them on if some survive
  2. Sorry image is crap.... I just counted 8 fry quickly while this photo was uploading. I got mine from HHF. Gutted cause I was going to get the tank looking nice this weekend so I could enter the pimped tank comp.
  3. Hopefully there won't be any trouble keeping this batch going.... Could be the Marvin Gaye I've been playing in the background.... 8) fishy love
  4. 18 eggs hatched last night, hopefully some will survive this time Here is a photo of 3 otto's just after hatching dirty glass   This is the second batch of eggs in a tank 2 months old.....
  5. Otto's have laid more eggs...... In the same place as last time. Must be the season
  6. Lucky I said I'm often wrong..... They are really nice though....... I would love one.
  7. Hi Joe, My local LFS in London used to have a display optiwhite tank, soooooo nice. The downside is they come with a huge price tag. For example a standard 60x30x30 was about 30 quid, the same size tank made of optiwhite was more like 120 quid. I'm not sure if it would be cheaper to import an optiwhite or get one custom made here, but at a guess... I would say at least $800nz for a 60x30x30 Then again......I'm often wrong
  8. It's not necessary, but it does mean you can automate your CO2 to an adjustable schedule. Certainly worth it if you don't always have someone home to turn your tap.
  9. Also only about 5% of the difuser surface area has bubbles coming out, (we have it turned down to 1 bubble per second at the moment) - is this normal at low rates? Wow! Your glassware looks fantastic, love those lily pipes. My diffuser was the same when new, I've got it cranking at about 4 bps at the moment and it's great guns. Maybe you could give it a short burst to see if that helps? Do you have a solenoid set up on that regulator?
  10. UPDATE Day 36 All the equipment is in silly places at the moment while I've been dealing with algae. Glassware is in desparate need of a clean
  11. Have you got a photo of that big rock? I've seen people smash big rocks up with a chisel to use in Iwagumi's....
  12. UPDATE Another algae outbreak This time almost totally covering the glosso.... I've ripped it out, washed it and replanted. No way am I doing that again.... Anyway here's the lastest photo
  13. None of the fry have survived Or none that I can see. If it happens again I'll try moving the eggs. Cheers
  14. Looking forward to seeing it planted
  15. Nice, are you going to try growing the glosso in low water?
  16. Emerald Eye Rasbora (Rasbora dorsiocellata) At least that's what I think they are.... :-? They school really well and seem to be quite hardy
  17. Yeah, the photo was taken right after a water change, must of been a bit of air in there :-? It's pretty full now I moved the inlet pipe to the same side as the diffuser, some of the bubbles are being sucked up and pushed out of the outflow. Just an experiment.....
  18. Update A few hours on the tank today... Replaced the white background for black, I think it shows up the Emerald eyes better (a bit shy in this photo) Ripped out the glosso, trimmed off all areas badly affected by thread algae, gave it a good wash and replanted, moss stones washed and trimmed. Sand and diffuser have been washed, inlet lily pipe has been moved (experiment ) Apologies for the wonky image :-? Couches are rubbish tripods
  19. It's been on since the 16/05 for 6 hours per day @1bps on a timer No refills yet I like the small bottle, it gives me more room in the cabinet. Farmers is just down the road so when I need a refill it's quick and easy, not the cheapest I agree but it's convenient.
  20. That's what I'm doing with my sand as well, it's a tough job  Good luck with your next project!
  21. Very nice! How old was the tank in the last few photos? How did you keep that sand so clean? Really cool tank!
  22. Can't see any otto fry, hope some survive but it's unlikely. Most of the thread algae has gone now Reducing the lights down to 2 hours per day, water changes and manually removing what I can seems to have done the trick. I'll keep that up for 1 more day then increase the lights to 5 hours or so to kickstart the glosso. The glosso needed trimming and replanting in a couple areas where the algae took hold but shouldn't take long to bounce back. Back on track :bounce:
  23. Don't quote me on this cause I've thrown away the bag but I'm sure the Manado is made from clay and would be used over Aquabasis. I've used a Seachem Flourite and Manado on top.... Maybe you use Aquabasis on the bottom and a layer of fine gravel over? If your not planting many plants in the substrate you could save yourself some coin and use some nice gravel with root tabs...
  24. Def otto's. My camera doesn't have a macro lens and these fry are tiny. I can't find any now so they are either hiding or they were just dinner I'll keep the camera on hand and try get one in focus...
