    The What's Up? thread.

so now I have 14 mosquito rasbora who are now living in a slightly rearranged ex-loach tank .... they seem to be having a good time in the current and messing about. Will sort out photos when water has cleared and lights are back on.
  2. haha the shop didn't have any wundertonic anyway. The fish got a big water change, lots of water conditioner and I will light a candle at Fish Church for them tonight :slfg:

i get the idea that you like the process of creating a new tank with all the gadget and high tech stuff but then you don't like what happens when you do that... maybe you should do low tech where things happen more slowly... just a thought, I know you won't agree :slfg:
  4. well that just isn't possible, your advice is mostly impractical in my situation. what I can do is up the water changes in their existing tank and give some wundertonic, realising that the bug is in the tank forever until I take it down and bleach it, which isn't likely anytime soon because it's a beautiful and established tank. In reality probably all my fish will have been exposed to it because I don't have seperate tools for each tank. They probably carry all sorts of bugs and diseases that are waiting for an opportunity like every other animal.
  5. how about a smaller diameter pipe? or net them out first and then do your clean up
  6. they will get a water change tomorrow there are less fish again now, one of the erythromicrons just died, and there is another skinny CPD who will be next. :an!gry
  7. haven't used enamel, all my tanks except the new one have acrylic paint background, dulux test pots. Mine husband says enamel might need less coats for good coverage but it will dry hard and might go brittle later. Acrylic seems to peel off in a tidier manner but saying that I managed to move house with mine and none of the paint came off. He says either will work.

I cut whole leaves of my chain sword off if it gets algae on it, as the older leaves seem to. You can also give them a haircut but then the end looks like it's been chopped. looks pretty in there

  11. Ilwis, whatever MAF say to you .. get it in writing! :smln:
  12. this thread reminds me of people who complain their own children are badly behaved.... discipline your fish! how about use one hand to hold the siphon and the other to chase the fish away from it??
  13. any news on Mr Guppy?
  14. this? http://www.theaquariumwiki.com/Mycobacteriosis since it's impossible for me to test for that I have no way of knowing if it is that. If it is the case I have already answered the criteria for how to keep it at bay so back to my original question, is there any product that can give the fish a health boost?

I've not heard of them leaving the needles in. Why did they do that?

but not this puppy, this puppy would make a bad situation worse
  18. I'm wondering if there is something I can get to give my CPDs a health boost. Over the last few months enough have died so that now it looks like I have much less fish. There are still 8 but I think I had about 14 when the tank first got going & I'd had some fry. It seems like one at a time they will waste and then disappear or I'll find a floater. Is this the sort of thing that happens as little fish get older? A large amount of the CPDs are around the same age and are all related to each other. All water parameters are normal, they have a balanced diet, and they are all otherwise normal and relaxed with no signs of sickness. Usually I put these things down to age or mystery ailments and say goodbye to the fish, but maybe there is something I should do?

I think the problem is that you have a floor. If the floor wasn't there you wouldn't try to keep putting the water on it.
  20. little fish don't seem to cope with shock very well. My fighter got beaten up by a mystery assailant one night and he also never recovered though I seem to remember he went downhill slowly does your guppy have plant cover in the breeding box? he might be feeling vulnerable in the box by himself if it's at the top of the tank under the lights, which is where we usually put them
