looks good is the java fern growing back?

I moved house in July, brought the Bugtopia box and the water with me. Set it up next to the house where I thought it would get at least the same amount of sunshine as the last house. It seems that it gets more but that's meant that the daphnia and mosquito larvae have started multiplying faster and I'm harvesting a good crop once a week, more if I wanted. There is also more blanket weed but I'm taking it out every week or 2 when I remember. It's not taking over. What I have noticed is that there are 2 new kinds of ostracod that weren't here before. I had them in an original stock dump from the sheep trough but they never survived. Now they've arrived all by themselves. Maybe it's the extra sunlight? I assume the blanket weed is a source of food in some way also.

indeed. I thought I was getting 1 small one for $5 but when she plucked out a medium sized one that had a little one attached I wasn't complaining :thup:

Today went on a road trip to Hamiltron and found a small lonely peppered cory for $5.50 so I snapped it up and got 2 good pieces of java fern for $5. Now have everything I need to finish putting rock tunnel tank together. The food highlight of the day was a rice bubble cake stuck together with syrup not yukky kremelta at one of the roadside bakeries at Ngaruwahia. :happy2:

After I spent practically all afternoon making a pompom breeding mop for the killiefish, I went to put it in the tank and found 1 lonely egg in a scrap of moss I'd strung up as a makeshift mop the other day. So I've put the big clump into a breeding trap in the same tank (can't feel any eggs in there), left the moss scrap where it is, put the mop in the tank, and put the egg in a floating container with a drop of meth blue as I'd seen Barrie do in the past. Cherry barbs are getting along well. I haven't been able to seperate them from where they spawned so in the event of of fry hatching and living in the moss I've been mixing up the smallest golden pearls with water and firing it into them.

I've been making a pompom for a breeding mop for my killies. It is taking forever :yaw1:

The way some of you are talking it would seem as though cannabis was a wonder drug that only ever had a positive effect on anyone. A little bit of weed at a party on the weekend might not seem like a bad thing to do but I know people who smoke it as much or more than cigarettes and I would say yes, long term and in larger doses it does have a harmful effect. Mood and mind altering and addictive substances are not healthy for the human body or mind. Ask yourself would you want your baby to be near it, or would you want to have your pregnant missus smoking it during pregnancy and you might find you've been overlooking some inconvenient facts.

I am just back from a nap :yaw2: Am off work with a cold and I'm zonked. It did not stop me going to HFF for more plants and gravel and to the landscape supplies place for a few more rocks. 8)

I found guppies irritating and I didn't enjoy my first bristlenose who scared my peppered cories away from his bits of the tank. He was so unsociable.

the stuff i have in the CPD tank foreground is tenellus tenellus pygmy chain sword. but I've also got some dwarf sag subulatawotsit for the new tank

I must admit some were getting a bit snippy a page or 2 back. I wasn't around to point my stick though.... now I can only thrash my tail at what I missed out on
