the thing I learned about getting a tank built was that when I had one made that was an irregular length it was hard to find a light fitting for it. So if you are getting a fitting that sits on top, bear that in mind.
my fish suffer from over feeding if nothing else.....
I will have a look at other wafers next time I'm at HFF. Which will be this weekend because living so close is just too tempting :slfg:
The 2 skinny loaches must be dead, I haven't seen them for days and now only see the 4 fatties. I thought I saw one in a crevice of the tunnel that is accessible from inside and outside but haven't seen them since. I hope they have been eaten by their cousins and are not just rotting away and fungussy in there. I think I will get the dropper and blow some air through the crevices and see if anything floats out.
I will say that though they don't have substrate, they have tunnels and places to hide in but lots of the time they aren't in there anyway, they're out being snakey
I've tried taking photos but the light reflects off the surface and you can't see anything but me peering in with a camera. They look just like that photo but teeny and teenier. Like zooming grass seeds. If I catch them when fishing for fish food I always put them back because they are too cool to be eaten and some are too big for my little fishes' mouths.
You can see them easily. Some are 1mm big, the bigger ones are about 2-3mm. I'm definitely meaning ostracods, not copepods. Copepods are very tiny. These ones are like tiny water beetles zooming around.
Every year the FNZAS has a conference somewhere in NZ. It includes the AGM and usually some fun stuff and eating times. 2013 is going to be in Auckland.
