Just a water change, there hasn't been much going in there to need a gravel vac yet and all that fish poop and plant matter is helping the tank mature at the moment. I think 20% would be plenty but the others may correct me. Since it's a big tank and only 3 fish I don't think they would produce enough waste to need to change out more. Unless you have been feeding them a lot, which is very easy to do. If you are worried about the gravel looking unsightly with leaves etc then stir it up a bit and then suck the main stuff off but don't let the vac suck the stones for a few more weeks I reckon. As Ira says, an ammonia kit would be a good investment and will help you keep an eye on things. If you can afford the whole testing kit then Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate are useful as you can see which stage of the cycle it's at.

I like going to the shop for my fish stuff. It helps that my favourite is cheaper and friendlier than most of the others too. I'd only rather buy things online that I don't need to look at first or don't need to try on. Clothes and shoes are too variable, I always have to try first.

:love: yum the so called weather bomb was mostly strong cold wind and some showers with sunshine in between. I was disgruntled to need a merino top to stay warm in March but it was warm enough for a t shirt when I went for a walk. Apparently this is the crappiest summer in NZ since history began??

I've kept shrimp on an off for a couple of years (not the same shrimp) and most details are in my loach thread (see signature). As the other said there is much more if you search as we have discussed those funny little critters a lot. I am convinced my latest shrimp is dead, I had a thorough beady eyed look for it yesterday and today, still can't see him
