  1. Nice vids Si one thing Ive noticed now is all native tanks Ive seen are dark lol I guess I was too absorbed by the fish to notice before hehe
  2. Hows that stroppy maroon doing now? Looking good though, looks like there less chance of eyeing each other up now.
  3. Its looking that way, Ive had it before in my 100 ltr and adding CO2 cleared it up right away. Its brought it on in this tank. I might leave it under 24/7 lights and CO2 add extra ferts and just leave it. If it takes over Ill just start again.
  4. aaah righto hehe Theres a documentary series called Hooked Monster Fish. One episode is all about the stingrays in thailand, its amazing.
  5. The largest freshwater stingray caught in thailand was 485 kg Largest one in captivity there is about 150 kg Thats unreal!
  6. Ty Jim I put it on the calander, now all I need to do is remove jan, feb, march and april pages and Im sure to make it
  7. Hairgrass isnt doing so good now, that sediment is building up more and dark green algae is forming on the tips. As there is no stock in there I could treat the whole tank with algaefix or something I guess. Heres the algae and brown sediment. Kinda hard to see the brown stuff as its hard to photograph being so tiny. It almost looks like mushy weetbix in too much milk. This has only occurred since I added CO2 and there is no gunk from the reactor getting in what so ever. I've found in the past, CO2 has eliminated the algae, I thought because the plants had extra CO2 they took up too much of the available nutrients for the algae to grow. I havnt had this dark green type before though so maybe its acually benifiting from it.
  8. Its on sunday then right? I must try make this one although I have a nieces birthday party to attend.
  9. Set up the CO2 today, tanks looking better already. Strange light brown sediment forming around the base of the hairgrass now though, its not algae.
  10. cool well you've twisted my arm haha! Will look at some over the next few weeks, I set the tank up last night so it will be well cycled That leaves me at a blank slate for stocking the ar380 though. Thanks for the help glad ya didnt get a hangover.
  11. Thanks p44 I hope the head wasnt too bad this morning, if so try appletons estate, not dark rum less impurities less hangover I have a 58 ltr sitting there too, perhaps thats the puffer tank I been looking for then. I wont stock too much though. 1m 2f might be too much even.
  12. Oh dear, sorry to hear that Im considering getting a few of these but considering carefully hehe. 38 ltr might be pushing it too.
  13. Hows the aggression been between them all so far anyways p44?
  14. I feed them out frozen in planted tanks too, havnt had an issue with algae. Feeding them frozen is the only way I can make sure every fish gets its share and others dont pig out.
  15. Think I should try different plants in the background? Theres twisted val there but it will take a while to get going.
  16. Made a few changes, that wood will most likely leak some tanins in but Im not to concerned about that at the moment, might even like it. still not 100% happy with it, I think something else can be done/undone. Going to plumb in the DIY CO2 tomorrow to get the plants pumping so will see what it looks like in a week or so I guess I still havnt decided on stock either. Well not so much decided as much as have no ideas. Only thing on the table at the moment are puffers. Im not having any more fighters and I think these tanks have too much flow for them imo.
  17. Sounds good, Ill have to think about that one, have never been a big gourami ran but if any its the dwarfs. polysperma and macandra only just came in from another tank, which ever one the green one is I never liked it anyways, always grew messy like that. If possible Id like a plant that would grow thick and tall enough to cover that unsightly powerhead, or some way of getting rid of it all together.
  18. It looks tired and messy, those angels will be gone tomorrow so it will have no stock either so Im thinking a complete revamp. Need ideas. Scaping, plants and stock, all up for change. I might keep the hairgrass seening as its finally gotten underway. Probably keep the black silica too which means its just the rest of the plants, a new bit of driftwood and the fish. Should I make it a species tank, maybe get some puffers A biotope of some sort could be an idea too I really just dont know where to start, only that something needs to be done
  19. Got sodastream bottles working on that, but there are a few smaller tanks I want to get the little reactor nailed down. I like the style too, would work well with my smaller tanks and the areas Im wanting to put them, $45 on special, looks like Ill be making something then Thanks heaps for the help, hows the tank going anyway?
  20. it would be interesting to find out how well these acually work.
  21. clarify a few things for me then, solenoid switches the co2 off automatically when desired? reg regulates the flow I dont need a solenoid if I am there to switch it off manually, if im not home I wont run it at all, simple (cheap more like it:P) reg, if I were to make my own method of getting the co2 out of the bottle at the desired pressure, then control that further with a needle valve from the model shop, would I acually need a reg and gauge? How dangerous is pressurised co2? Ive made a bracket and using sodastream machine parts can get the gas out at between 1 and 2 bps, with a needle valve id have futher control. Im just not sure how safe is it? I think if they can be sold as bench top units it cant be too bad.
  22. why do they have to make them so egg like lol, heres me counting my rainbows before they hatch or spawn even.
  23. no they are fern spores, I think I need to see the optometrist
  24. no shrimp in the tank Right, ty Rob. I didnt think of that
