  1. Nothing in mind, but if something uber awesome comes up, id like to have the space
  2. To make space for a different monster maybe
  3. Wasnt looking to sell that soon! maybe in 2 months or so...
  4. They have 3... I might be willing to sell mine, hes a bit bigger than any of the others for sale.
  5. Last day of unemployment! You should come into animates henderson tomorrow
  6. Jardini's are supposed to be absolutely vicious!
  7. Growth has been slow although ive been feeding and WC a lot to help growth. Thats the thing with dats, even when ya power feed them, they dont grow quickly! The AT has grown faster. Both are now just under 4'', but the indo is the boss. I wouldnt worry about aggression between dats. Its usually just a bit of chasing. Ive read many times about full grown adults being kept with babies and they dont get eaten
  8. I have angels (for the missus) and bala sharks!
  9. Nice pics. I took some last nice as my Ornate and Indo where also being sociable in their new 430L tank My Indo is super stable now, hes awesome!
  10. Sshhh its a secret! My foot is fine!
  11. I thought chlorine was pretty much harmless to fish unless it huge amounts. It kills you denitrifying bacteria though - which in turn stands a good change at killing your fish. For a long time on a small tank I didnt use dechlorinator, just put my thumb over the tap to jet the water into the bucket actually gets rid of a lot of it.
  12. With recent experience of being employed by Animates I disagree. I havent even done my first day, but looking through all the manuals, and speaking to various members of staff, as well as managers and the regional manager, I couldnt have been more impressed at just how well everything is done as well as the culture. Its true with anything, not everyone knows everything about anything, and personally id welcome a customer with more knowledge so as more can be learned by myself - and vice versa with customers with less knowledge. There is always someone who knows more, and theres always someone who knows less. All in all it goes in the direction of everyone being better educated, which can only be good for the hobby. As a customer ive never minded whether their knowledge is superior or inferior - if I have questions, I go home and research. Even if my questions are answered id probably go home and research anyway just to get a whole lot of different views and opinions or something.
  13. As above. I find it beneficial to just add the dechlorinator to the tank just before or straight after adding new water - or turn off your filters so none of the chlronine gets to your main bacterial colony. I use a hose to fill the tank, so adding to the new water is not possible. For a tank that size id buy the stress coat bottle that has the pump head, give one pump for every 7 litres, so its real quick and easy to just give 10 pumps for a 70 litre water change. you dont have to be too accurate either.
  14. Now ya tell me. If ya told me a week ago, youd have a 10cm del, and id have one that was too big to sneak out of the tiny gaps in my lids
  15. Two would be cool, but I only know of one nice one for sale... Mt Roskill have 3 still I think, but they arent half as nice as the one in albany, but I spose theyll stable up in no time.
  16. Here we go. Managed to get one non-blurry shot before my batteries died. Hes very active. Will go into the cave, then burst out, zoom round the tank and back to the cave. and repeats every few minutes someone is watching him
  17. Ill take some pics of mine in a min. You'd love an AT. they arent quite as cute/good looking as a nice INDO, but these guys EAT, and are very outgoing and oh so easily stable! and they only get to 12'' MAX. The one at HFF Albany looks even better than mine, and is super super duper uber stable!
  18. Ive got a 4''+ male ill try and get some shots of if i see him today Hes a shot i took last week. He has spots and his bristles are all over his face.
  19. Or just have the stand central and use some concrete blocks for either end.
  20. Partly true, depends on the fish. I had 20 neons in there and none got eaten (though they ate eggs whenever I let them spawn in there without moving them to the breeding tank) I also had 2 rams but they hung out around the bottom.
  21. Well polypterus are is the genus name from which all these species come from, the genus' common name is bichirs. Delhezi is one species. Bichirs are commonly divided into two groups - lower jaw and upper jaw. In NZ we tend to get upper jawed species - in the shops youll mostly ever see Senegalus, ornatipinis and delhezi. They are an ancient primitive form of fish, having been around since the dinosaurs. They breathe from the air much like anabantoids. If youd like to know more, theres a great post on bichirs that tells you alot: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65770 Thought id share this pic of my Del, the night before he jumped... cuddling upto a BN...
  22. The small del could be an Endli in disguise... Looking good though. I lost another Del this week. Despite learning from last time and covering all gaps, he still jumped. Always delhezis, never any other polys Anyway, wheres Jeff?
  23. Can be within a week though it can depend on lots of factors.
