  1. Try a nissan cube! I just bought one last week. Quite cool. No cambelt to worry about, spacious 4 door but compact. Only a 1.3 but economical but got good go down low.
  2. Thats where ebay has it sussed quite a bit - its possible to contact sellers direct if you know how, so even if they are done out of a success fee, theyve still got their insertion fee. Also being able to purchase brand new items from abroad rather than paying ridiculous prices here is an advantage - and paypal is an excellent service.
  3. Beat me to it bro. I use ebay heaps. But thats for buying... havent sold anything on there in ages and I CBB with international shipping as not many kiwis use it... but I just checked: First 5 items per month have no listing fees - only pay when they sell. Insertion fees range upto $4.00 + $ for extra features. Success fees: (US$) $0.01 - $25 - 8.75% $25 - $1000 - 8.75% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($25.01 to $1,000.00) Over $1000 - 8.75% of the initial $25.00, plus 3.50% of the initial $25.01 - $1,000.00 plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)
  4. Ebay needs to take off in NZ. Trademe is another of example of NZ trying to reinvent the wheel.
  5. Animates have fish club deals everyweek - some real bargains to be had. Plus there are multibuys which are on constantly on most fish and plants - eg neons, if you buy 10, the price per fish is reduced by $1.50.
  6. Cheers P, will await the new leaves, then as soon as they start appearing, will chop off the big-uns :bounce:
  7. Yes. You could keep a pair of oscars in that.
  8. Was just at bird barn. That tank looks cool in that size should be fine without bracing. Its 6mm
  9. Sweet. I just rejigged it so it sits a bit lower. Trimmed the roots down. Will leave the big leaves for the moment and see if anymore grow. cheers
  10. Just thought id share some nice pics I took this morning... My AT is unstable due to an Oscar being added
  11. Just got mine today... nice specimen. It is huuuuge. The rhizome is the size of a golf ball, the leaves are 15cm long, and overall height is about 45cm. Is it possible to train them to grow shorter? I love the huge leaves of anubias (cant get hold of barteri) but would love to have a shorter stem on this one...
  12. Hopefully Ill be getting an AT in soon. Can get you one whenever you like Must be a funny week for ornates eh.

    filters dead

Yep cut down your feeding. Do a WC every 2 days. Get an airpump running on it or something just to maintain adequate oxygen levels. Take all filter media out, clean off in a bucket of tank water, then place back in the tank - just floating or sitting on the bottom.
  14. mmm I like dollars more hehe. I love my sens, the ornate is just a brute I cant run the risk of him growing a lot faster than the Dats, and snacking on those too... Cant remember how much the skimmer was, had to import it from the states via Ebay. There is a Hagen branded one for the Aquaclears (same thing basically) but they arent in NZ.
  15. Skimmer is sold. Got a member picking it up from work in a few days. If you want dels I can order them - but they aint gna be cheap. More than hollywoods... Im putting my ornate up for sale... Just caught him with a silver dollar in its mouth. I rescued it though. Hes already eaten two silver sharks...
  16. Its coarser. Here is the closest pic I have of it. I dont have that tank anymore though so cant get better pics.
  17. I have found the CF1200 to be a perfect match for a 150L tank. Also look at the aquaclear range of filters. a 110 will be awesome on your tank - their mechanical filtration is unmatched.

    canisters?

Eheim 2213, Aquaone CF700 or 1000, Aquaclear 70 or 110 are all far better options IMHO.
  19. You could go a bichir only tank, like an long and shallow one as they dont need the water depth. Something like a 150hx60hx40H would look really cool
  20. Pool filter sand. 25Kg bag was like $20 from my local swimming pool place. Needs a good wash, but then its awesome.
  21. Agree with all the above. 90L is very small... Id be suprised if the standard filter unit wasnt struggling even now too.

    Tank to heavy?

I just put my 430L in the garage. Concrete floor and near the tub. sorted.
  23. My 2 Dats and 2 bichirs are also in a 120x60x60 I need one more dat then... and more bichirs...
