  1. they are about 15-20cm It didn't look like their normal poop - looked similar to the eggs my rosy barbs laid!
  2. Hey Can anyone tell me what they look like? I've got a couple in my tank who seem to be guarding something long and stringy looking??? Also they are getting a bit big for my tank - any idea where i can sell them?? Thanks
  3. Im not sure if its dechloronator??? Its Aquaone water treater sold in wetpets. I know animates tests the water fro free - so that will go to them. I'll be cycling for the first few days or week without fish - but i will have plants
  4. Hey All, Ive got most of the equipment for my new tank. Ive just brought my first tank an Aqua One AR620T (130L). It cam with a hood which included a light and filter. I've just bought: Eheim 100w heater Gravel (20kgs for $9 from bunnings ) Dual air pump (one way valves and hosing) Gravel cleaner Thermometer I've got to set the tank up today or tomorrow. How many days do i need to let it cycle for? Ive been told everywhere from 1 day (with water treater) to 3 weeks?????? ALSO is the water treater good???? Cheers
  5. Got a few more accessories Eheim 100w heater Gravel (20kgs for $9 from bunnings ) Dual air pump (one way valves and hosing) Gravel cleaner Thermometer Its time to clean the gravel. I'll find some stones and some driftwood, and buy some plants next week. How many days do i need to let it cycle for? Ive been told everywhere from 1 day (with water treater) to 3 weeks?????? ALSO is the water treater good???? Cheers
  6. Cheers for that. I will take the advice of getting two heaters as well (1x100w, 1x50w) Are there only wet pets and animates who sell fish in Palmy?
  7. Ok..... so its accessory time. Good brands? I kept getting told Ehiem???? ALSO I do want a couple of angelfish, so what else can i have with them? And what sort of plants do they like????
  8. I didn't know that. That's why I'm new  . I think I'll stick with my original plan of a tropical tank. Still deciding what to put in it though. Next week (or this weekends) the big shop to get all the accessories, and get the tank set up. Then a week or so after I'm aiming to get some fish! I would like a native tank, so that might be next on the list.
  9. problem with that is that there are no specialty fish shops in the region, and i don't really want to pay the $20-$40 price tag that the pet shops have for a piece of wood. I think my best be will be going to the beach and looking along the water line. Any other places in Palmy besides the pet shops that sell aquatic plants????
  10. haha yes i know they arent the best looking fish in the world. But the natives hold a special place in my heart (im a hydrologist by the way ) so thats probably one reason. I wouldnt mind having a couple of freshwater crays as well. Anywhere in town that sells driftwood? - landscaping places? And sand -so i can grow some plants - i went to palmers but they dont sell aquatic plants.
  11. hmmmm all valid points. I was thinking today that it could be cool to have a native fish aquarium? Bullies and the such. Anyone done this?
  12. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably start with something more hardy, and then work my way into it. I would like to get some drift wood, and maybe some rocks (that looks quite good!). I also want some tall plants, as my tank is quite tall (60 or 70cm I think). Looks like its a trip out to the beach!!!!
  13. Thats a nice looking tank! I was actually thinking about getting a couple of angelfish at first.
  14. Yes it was half price - stock clearance apparently - you would know better than me though! Might come in and have a chat to you this weekend then.
