  1. I had a customer who treated his discus for worms, and after treatment all of them had an indent in the middle of their body. I personally just say just keep pristine water and feed well. Hopefully the discus pros can enlighten us though as I am curious re the whole worms thing.
  2. How about those new Odessa barbs that have come in?
  3. ive used the sera system. didnt notice any change in plant growth. Tablets dont dissolve very well and you end up with 2mm sized white chunks sitting on your gravel of which then the fish eat.
  4. I have an AC70 for sale that does 1800LPH. did a good job of circulating in a 430L alongside an FX5
  5. Im feeding mine on dog food, usually with a load of lettuce on the side. She loves it. Ill feed mealworms whenever I happen to have some, and a whole bowl of banana goes down a treat too!
  6. All dats look the same to someone who doesnt have a clue. probably the same type of person that doesnt know the difference between a cardinal and a neon...
  7. The guy still maintains that keeping them in a 40L tank is perfectly ok.
  8. 40L tank for a dat. You gotta be kidding me.
  9. Are there males and females? or just one sex?
  10. You saw mine bro. in a 600mm deep tank youd need better lighting though... PM a-town, he sells it.
  11. Youve got a decent light unit, so dont be a cheapo on the tubes, its pointless! Get powerglos, even at 70+ per tube, money well worth spent. I even use them with no plants they are that good
  12. Picked her up on friday, name is Yoshi 3 months old and pushing 35cm. Many thanks to Livingart Will try and pickup a compatible beardie at some point. tried with a 2 year old and it didnt work out well, the beardie tried taking a bite out of her
  13. I should read posts a bit better
  14. You could somehow run two different systems within the same sump? one for high flow, one for slower flow, for the reasons mentioned above. Juwel tanks use this method in their internal canisters - the top section is all about mechanical and good turnover, whearas the bottom section is much lower flow for bio.
  15. Those durso overflows are what I have on my work tanks. they work ok, but personally not a huge fan as the intake is quite high, meaning stuff near the bottom doesnt get sucked in effectively.
  16. Cool. thought id be able to get away with it, will get a piece of ply and cutout a small section to enable the light to still get through.
  17. You guys reckon ill need a cover? its 45cm tall... Thinking i might in the winter if i dont have a heat lamp that doesnt emit light... temp is 20C in the morning at the moment and gets a lot colder come winter...
  18. Ill have to google it, but basically you use the HOB casing, (empty) and drill a hole in the bottom to route the pipe for the syphon overflow.
  19. what sort of algaes are available in NZ for nitrate absorbtion? i know in the states they mention macro algae a lot. if can get it, stick a wee light over the sump, and grow algae
  20. You can actually buy syphon overflow units off ebay. Or you can make your own using a hang-on filter casing.
  21. The jardini will be slow growing, so will be a while before it attains a size big enough to go with your silver, and the silver will grow substantially in that time... if you want a jardini, personally id sell the silver.
