  1. You wont regret the keyholes. their lack of bright colours is not a reflection of their personality. wonderful fish to keep.
  2. Got 3 more today. count is upto 8 One of my favourite fish. Looking forward to see how this 'species tank' turns out and they are schooling!
  3. I have two big earthworms in there - they are called senegals
  4. Next lot of pics ill get the anubias. its the one in the last pic. and the barbs and the clowns, due to their similar colour and patterns, appear to be shoaling together which looks cool - that was the intention!
  5. Just converted on the weekend Stocking: 20 x clown loach 20 x tiger barbs (going to add another 20 maybe) 5 x Firemouths 2 x senegalus polypterus 1 x gold spot pleco Plants: Anubias nana variegated Anubias barteri barteri Anubias Azfeli (I like anubias) Sorry about the poor quality of the pics, dark substrate make taking pics much harder!
  6. Yes i was having a bad bag tying day. I had to get Luke to tie David Rs bag as I just couldnt.  Chalceus do well on their own or in a big group. Small groups of 3 or so dont do so well from what ive read? I can price match on them, but I wont be ordering anymore in unless they are ordered specifically by a customer so let me know.
  7. Tiger barbs! interesting to watch, and shouldnt be food for quite a while.
  8. Nice chalceus, where did you get it from? 8)

    Oh dear..

Yes some of the non-fish staff have a tendancy to leave nets lying around when serving customers on a very very busy day. Its slightly understandable as they dont think like fishos (if you werent a fisho, youd probably think a net is a net and whats wrong with leaving it lying around), but it needs to be addressed. and thats not our fish room pictured! Lol @ my bag tying on saturday
  10.   I dont look at the dates. Lol. I was thinking why wouldnt a shop in palmy be open on auckland anniversary weekend!
  11. Maybe yours isnt, but ours is! i was planning a trip to HFF mt roskill today. hope their open.
  12. Well said. I like them small and cute  But i have a list of at least 4 people that will bite my hands off for them once they reach a reasonable size 8) so it works out quite well.
  13. Thanks David. I just paid for the 20 and ill pick them up later today. Also got 20 tiger barbs going in, and then looking at possibly a group of 6 firemouths (until a pair forms)
  14.    Sens get to about 12'' max. its rare for them to even get that big, and they are thin. they have minimal effect of bioload. I currently have the 20 clowns in a 2ft tank at work and it looks understocked. and no, i have no intention of keeping the clowns through to full adulthood - to me, they loose their appeal once they start getting big. As A-Town mentioned, I run an FX5. Also with an AC70 Powerhead.
  15. 5''. i reckon theyd be sweet.
  16. Takes a long long time. And if i grew them to about 12cm+, and sold half of them, its a good return...
  17. Do you guys reckon I should get. they will be bubba size. Tank is a 4x2x2. Only bottom tank mates will be a pair of senegal bichirs, and a gold spot pleco. I have 20 put aside for myself, but wondering if its overkill and that 10 long term would be a better number? :bounce:
  18. So, its on at Henderson this weekend
  19. Or add a powerhead. powerheads rocks. I love my AC501.
  20. A 4x2x2 packs a lot of weight into a compact footprint... i had to track down a solid oak cabinet for mine... wasnt prepared to put it on anything else. Im
  21. So how many of you haters are going to pass on Animates' buy one get one free on all plants and fish this weekend?
  22. I have noticed though, fish keepers are a really grumpy bunch compared to dog owners... just an observation...
  23. Indeed, a lot of people want to be helped, but always too reserved to ask!
