  1. Thanks for the input guys. I spread out all the stems a bit more, and rearranged a bit. Removed the val. Wont put in glosso or sag, just the wilisii cypts when i get them. Got my rio salinas corys today, sooo cute! only about 1cm long. supplier only had two though. I wanted four Ill get some new pics up after tea. will see if i can hunt down the corys
  2. Yeah what P44 said. Just like with fighters and guppies etc... you breed them to get colour/finnage etc... that is desireable.
  3. Hi Lisa, its a crypt, wendtii I think. I had nice green leaves on longer stems around the brown leaves that are there now, but i trimmed them back.
  4. Yeah im going to see what i can get away with a single tube, if that fails i throw a twin T5 unit on it. Gravel is called midnight something, i had a load left when i broke down my 4x2x2. Not sure about the crypt, but thanks, noted, will move it. The front has yet to be planted so guess ill be having a bit of a shift round next week when i do that too And argh why are jagers so damn long! I should put in a handful of the new Hagen nano heaters... they are tiny and awesome. Have you seen them yet P44? theres 3 sizes, one for 10l, 17l and 25l. automatic thermostat set to 26c too.
  5. Luke keeps nagging me to get them everytime I do orders  but they are coming in at 1cm, so yeah would need a lot of them and my budget is much lower than id like. The rio Salinas corys should be cool though, they should be getting delivered for me tomorrow morning Ill probably ditch the val and spread that glandulosa around a bit more
  6. It does look much better in person sadly. I cant wait for the plants to get a bit more height, and to plant the foreground
  7. Yeah thats what i was thinking, ill just have to try and see. might have to rehome one of the males first though.
  8. Trying to achieve a nice, peaceful, stunning, low tech, low maintenance planted tank. Still more plants and fish to go in. Feedback and ideas appreciated. Its a 90x30x30 (80L) running an aquaclear 50 filter, jager 100w heater (at 26C) aquaone 30W T8 lighting using a powerglo tube. Water change schedule of around 40-50% weekly, at around the right temp. The filter is turned right down to reduce surface movement, and will be dosing with flourish about a week after the last lot of plants have gone in. Fish: 10 x neons 1 x Golden bristlenose 1 x blackline flying fox 1 x pair of albino sunset swordtails 2 x Vieltail blue rams Still to go in: 1 x male betta (a nice red halfmoon hopefully) 4 x Rio Salinas coryduras maybe 10 more neons. Plants: Twisted vallisniera tortissima Red ludwigia Ludwigia Ambulia Zealandia sword Anubias barteri nana Anubias nana nana Java moss Java fern Java fern windelov Crypt wendtii Still to go in: Dwarf saggitaria Glosso (probably not going to work, but ive never tried it, so will give it a go) Crypy Wilisii (nevelli and lucens) Pics are coming.
  9. Just wondering what the likely outcome of that would be. I have two absolutely stunning Vieltail blue rams (even nicer than elec blues IMHO) and wondering about adding a female elec blue. Vieltail electric blue rams would be very nice indeed
  10. Why cat food? all my sources say dog food... Dog food is a slightly more complete diet, whereas catfood is just meat due to them being carnivores... I feed Hill science diet tins (yay for working at animates) and she loves it. As for feeding, mine hides underneath my basking tile a lot, and when i want to feed, i just get her out and place her so her head is over the foodbowl, most of the time she will eat. other times she will walk right through the bowl and slither away.

    Plants Wanted

PM me about eh diffusers P44, ive imported a few shipments this year, and they are really good. might be able to get you a better supply

    Is there a..

One of your best options to begin with would be to ensure you have minimal surface movement caused by filtration - that way your are keeping as much of the CO2 you have in your water (given off by fish, and at night by plants)
  13. but use very short strokes. trying to do long cuts like you would with cardboard will result in a really bad edge.
  14. Why the need for a separate enclosure? mine will attack a fork covered in tinned dog food with gusto! nom nom!
  15. Agree with Caryl somewhat, but each to their own, and if it works, all good!
  16. I didnt think theyd brumate if kept indoors and their heat is kept at a constant all year round. Mine just had its first shed since i got here, shes looking really good Mark
  17. We run powerglos on all our shop tanks, and its all i use on my own tanks now. They are reaaaaaly good you definately notice the difference if changing from a standard bulb thats supplied with most light hoods.
  18. Definately not Aequidens Pulcher, or rivulatus. Jack dempsey no doubt. they are generally darker, but sometimes lighten up and appear like that.
  19. Anubias Barteri Barteri (the large growing anubias) is available, i keep getting myself some, but never convinced its true barteri, as at a small size it looks just like nana sp. ,especially since its grown emersed. Get some Anubias Hastifolia
  20. Dont raise it really quick. The quick change will kill your fish rather than the low ph. do it gradually.
  21. How about breeding some of the Burmese Odessa barbs? They are absolutely stunning
  22. Start a mealworm farm. Its pretty easy. Try sending Henward a pm for his setup and info.
  23. Anyone here done a McQuaig survey? After reading my results I was astounded how a complete stranger could know me better than anyone else on the planet. quite remarkable.
  24. I would love to be able to just drop a line and catch dats. would be a dream come true.
