  1. I would say proceed with caution... id personally not do it. An adult angel with a young oscar - the oscar is a toddler, still quite stupid and clumsy, he could quite easily kill the angel accidently as a toddler would... On the other hand, an adult angel is going to be rather experienced, but would probably only bully the oscar enough so that the oscar knows whos boss. As soon as that oscar starts growing, and its temperment changes, who knows.

    pacu?

People should just get red hook silver dollars instead of pacu's...
  3. My ornate used to eat 3'' silver sharks. And silver sharks aint slow  I dunno how they do it.
  4. is that an AT tho? ATs grow sooo fast, piggy blighters they are!
  5. That is true! Well for a nano, auto top up and skimmer arent really required. and the aquaclear 110 refugium type filter setup can house a 25w aquaone filter in it no worries!
  6. Already did a puffer tank! A nice betta, ember tetras, and ottos is still the best combo i reckon!
  7. Hence the aquaclear refugium! and they look cool with a some inverts living in them too! and surely it can be done using a Deep Sand Bed, anaerobic bacteria chews nitrates... and is there still too many nitrates?
  8. I might get some more anubias nana... its like my favourite plant. Lol. It needs to be a low maintenance (other than wc's) as when the tank is full, you cannot put even half a hand in without water overflowing out of the top (yes, i did this) I dont have experience with halogens, so not sure what i need. i know they are 10w.
  9. Nah im not going for plant growing. too much hassle. My old man wants an office tank when he refurbs his office, so thought id test this out for him... then get him to buy it off me. EDIT just had a good look at those lights... might be worth a go actually. just for better illumination of the tank, Cheers!
  10. Well im trying to justify the cost to myself (paid 225) but i spose thats not too bad, considering that includes the tank, filter, stand, fittings, spare media, and lighting. It also has a 2 year warranty which is pretty good IMO.
  11. Why run a sump? just run an FX5 (on a ar380 or 620) with the flow turned down somewhat, or thinner tubing. or throw an Aquaclear 110 or 70 (google AC110 Refugium,, modify the impellor to reduce flow, and grow nitrate munching algae and stuff in the 'fuge.
  12. Picked one up today. just because it looks cool. 25L. Fluval edge. Its well presented, well packaged. Looks especially great being rimless. The aquaclear 20 is a great choice of filter. Just got it setup with a 25W aquaone heater (25w jager doesnt fit unless horizontally). A bit of black grit, driftwood, and an Anubias Nana. Stocking suggestions? So far the plan is: >A nice delta tail betta or similar >Ember tetras (quantity?) >and about 3 oto's
  13. Discus are going cheap if anyone is interested and im taking pre orders for the clowns once they hit 4-5'' 8)
  14. Hey Henward those are my old dats, were already on Sinking carnivore and cichlid gold
  15. Woohoo Henward is back!!! Great work as always
  16. A lot of juvenile brackish fish start in freshwater I believe, monos are a prime example, they dont need salt until they mature, so would probably be sold from fw tanks. Not sure about other species though
  17. Surely with a bit of careful electrical DIY, the fan could be run off the same power source as the lights?
  18. Good work. Are you sure it needs it though? ive never had problems with the AR380 or AR320's. I usually run a 25w heater in them in find the temp to sit quite nicely at whatever I desire. just thinking that a 300w ATX power supply turns a energy efficient tank into a power guzzler... if the fan actually helps, perhaps find an alternative method of powering it? Other than that, room placement and reducing lighting hours should help. Another way would be to ditch the hood entirely and use one of the clamp-on Jebo or aquaone light units, and use an internal filter also.
  19. Get a hydrometer to ensure you have the correct specific gravity at all times, especially for when changing water and redosing with the salt.
  20. Albino sens are awesome. out of all the polypterus, i have found them to have the best characters and be really active. Im not sure id ever be able to pair with my two!
  21. Looks like a catfish. and technically I am correct.
  22. I dont have the time to commit to discus in the long run unfortunately, and ive got my colony of firemouths which i much prefer
