  1. Added a flagtail prochodilus today he's awesome!
  2. 6ft tank. How tall does the Uragauyensis get? I will probably find new locations for the plants on the right, I use that area as a location for feeding circle of the bichirs and the plants will probably get disturbed.
  3. There are still some left at HFF albany under 10cm
  4. Got some plants from alanmin on the forum, getting some more off a.proph and dben later.
  5. Any money left in the bank....let me check....nope.
  6. Bichirs are a must! Most intriguing african fish IMO, congo tetras are colourful and they have some nice teeth on them 8)
  7. Yes! This is an idea that I was considering for my 6ft. With plants just go all out on every type of anubias variant. In terms of fish: school of congos (normal or yellow fin, both are nice), elephantnose, ctenopoma x2/3, senegal bichir, delhezi bichir, african butterfly fish, try and source the wild kribs off a forum member (look better IMO), maybe a cool african cat. watch out for the ctenopoma + bichirs eating barbs if you want them in the tank, make sure whatever barbs they are, are at LEAST an inch, any smaller and they will be food i think. IF you do this I would really like to see the end result. A cool idea would be to make a riverbank background out of poly, look at some threads in DIY, some good ones in there.
  8. Next it will be suspend project pleco, engage impulse project arowana.
  9. No, it will be fine, just let it sort itself out I think. Maybe add plants to use up the nutrients.
  10. algae bloom probably, just clouds the water for a little bit, goes away without any interferring.
  11. Some more photos, put the male GT and 2 more sens in there. Albino sen wants to get it on with a normal senegal female  . Stocklist: Jardini, geo, X2 GT, X3 sharks, X4 sens (1 albino), X2 dels. festae in sump cos Jardini doesn't like him.
  12. too right it would, sceptical about the JDs, depends how big they are, will have to check them out.
  13. Thanks guys, I'm not going to add any more wood but I will plant this baby up a bit. So far I have had success with swordplants with bichirs, so I may try a few of those - although maybe mini sag would be a better option. Might add some tall stems along the back for some depth profile. Suggestions? Havent had much luck with anubias though. I still want to maintain an open feel + be able to see my fish well, and bushy plants will just ripped up. So pretty much restricted to strong stemmed plants and short compact swordplant-like species. @morcs: bare bottom is well, just too bare. I think a natural look brings out the best in any fish, only plus for a bare tank is ease of cleaning.
  14. Put new sand in the tank today, excuse the understandable cloudiness of the tank, but that will settle. Lovin' the look thanks to DavidR and Snookie for recommending the builders sand from mitre10. Fish are growing well, Jardini is around 17-18cm now since Easter when I got him at about 6cm, grey sen is about 20cm now and rivals the fat delhezi which is around 20-22cm, the del is 26cm long, had a bit of growth this year which I am happy about, silver sharks are 20cm/12cm/10cm, albino sen is at 15cm, Geo is around 20cmish and looking primo on the darker substrate, GT female at 8cm. Will post a couple of pics tomorrow of some fish that Henward was sitting for me - chur bro. Anyways a couple of snaps
  15. LOL, I have a level 2 grade in hospitality for working at McD's
  16. OR you could do 7th form, and if you are intelligent, get some decent scholarships and work part time, that way you still get some money before heading into Uni. They are bumping up the requirement grades, so the minimum is not always accepted as it used to be, and they generally prefer taking students with another year under their belts (unless the 6th former is super smart), this applies especially to Bsc's because the content of the courses in 7th form is different to 6th form, so theoretically you would go in handicapped not knowing what others know. I do the cambridge pathway which IMO is better than NCEA (but I'm biased) because its easier to understand. In 6th form alone I managed to get 200 UCAS points, however for this year, the points available are double what they were last year. So judging by acheiving the same grades as last year, this year I am aiming for 320 points. You can see that if a Uni acceptance officer looked at my 6th form level and compared it to 7th form, he would definately prefer to take the older student which more points. I am not going away for Uni either, Auckland is the Uni that best suits me, so I will stay at home for a while - keeps the cost down that's for sure.
