  1. What about a banded leporinus? could be a nice addition? or a jag cichlid
  2. Yeah, Im familiar with the site, its a good one. There is a wicked tank with an african riverbank effect from quite a while back -one of the coolest tanks IMO
  3. That actually sounds gangsta, how about a Miaguar (midas/jag cross).
  4. Hybrids bro! Hybrids   They are all just normal.
  5. Back on track though, can anyone share a hybrid that they have or an interesting morph?
  6. I love opotiki, have relatives there, we go fishing with a kontiki and pull in a lot of baby sharks, few rays and the occaisional snapper.
  7. The mantis was definately a scyther and the beetles are heracross for shizzle. sigh, pokemon is a classic
  8. My brother is still in high school hes in 5th form (2-3 years behind me), says all the new 3rd formers were trying to look as metro as possible with their flat beaked caps, dyed ratties and big skate shoes  haha. My old school has super strict uniform codes; hair cannot touch the collar or cover the face, no dyed hair, no piercings, shirt tucked in always, socks up etc etc. My dad demonstrated some sort of sadistic pleasure in imagining the new kids getting kicked into line . It was fun sometimes being a prefect, I emulated scariness to 3rd formers 8) Haha, my mum used to do that for me every year until college. Its the fastest year for sure, and HEAPS harder to maintain motivation for exams
  9. Probably going with disgustipated (funny name ) this week, will let you know if we sort something out.
  10. I used to have a group of indo tigers, fed them exclusively on hikari pellets, and prawn.

These types (altos/compressiceps etc) are my favourite african cichlids, what were the ones that hollywood brought in last year? They ran quite steep for VERY small fish?
  12. Blowing up lungs is horrible, My teacher tried to demonstrate on lambs lungs with water, turned out there were holes in it so bloody smelly water went all over the floor - no one offered to help clean up lol
  13. Hold your breath for a month jaxxnz  :nilly: I am a Rooster btw !drool: ....chicken
  14. Near the western side? By the bridge or closer to browns bay? what have you seen there yourself? Anyone keen to come fishing?

Gutted, its terrible when you lose a favourite, any chance of getting any more?
  16. Japanese bug fighting! http://www.japanesebugfights.com/ Lol, now they think that bugs are pokemon  There are some cool bugs used in the videos though, I would like one of the massive beetles 8)
  17. I was going to make a post about this as well, man queensland is in the poo. First the flooding now this, not only social factors influenced but the economy is taking a hammering. Ironic that they are always complaining about drought, now they have an absolute deluge that is more of a problem than a fix. Lets hope it doesn't take any lives.
  18. What about an amazonian comm tank with schooling fish; feature fish: flagtail, banded leporinus, nice fancy plecos. Then add variety of whiptails, headstanders (look at p44 thread in general fresh) and a large school of bleeding hearts. This might look nice.
  19. Does anyone know if the stream behind the albany minigolf/next to NH stadium is good? Reccommended areas? I am keen to go fish around.
  20. I kind of wish we had different schooling hours here, Rarotonga for example starts at like 6:30 an finishes at around 2, France actually have Wednesday off which is cool. I like to have an afternoon to do whatever - vegetate in front of tank.
  21. Yeah I agree with Jaxxnz on that one, the endli/ornate cross is probably the nicest hybrid bichir, I also like ansorgi/lapradei which looks good too. I would be keen on seeing arowana crosses, I think a fusion of the black and silver aros could turn out some really interesting colour differences especially in the fins.
  22. No more school for me!! Yayuh!
  23. When you get a red texas David let me know Well, I think that when a line becomes too diluted and the quality of a strain becomes poor is when hybridisation is a bad thing. Also, when the original specimen becomes scarce in the hobby and the genetic pool shrinks, I think that is another bad reason for hybridisation. On the otherhand it is possible to create some really mint crosses, personally i am no fan of parrots or flowerhorns, but these ones are cool: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... guar+cuban http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... rid&page=2 http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid This is an interesting article too: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forum ... ool+hybrid
  24. Captive bred. Licenced breeder and seller. It is illegal to take from the wild and sell, although I am not sure about breeding from wild parents and selling the young.
  25. I was wondering what sort of hybrids have been bred here, overseas I have seen a texas/jag cross and a jag/dovii cross and thought they looked pretty awesome. Does anyone here have some interesting hybrids? Saw a jd/jag cross on tm not too long ago but it didnt look spectacular.
