  1. When I picked mine up there were 2 in separate tanks, the one I picked had NOTICABLE difference to the other, mine displayed higher levels of red in the tail + and IMO looked stockier, the other ones I have seen have much less colour on the tail (pale orange) and more lines/dots near the caudal fin - my one does not seem to have as much at all. I have mine on a diet of hikari pellets, and the occaisional prawn, although it is an algae eater it fails to show interest in algae pellets, but I see him 'kissing' the glass a lot of the time; as a result he earned the name hotlips
  2. lol, first one to reply henward. No one else bought one???
  3. They kind of look like small armoured cats. How big do they grow? Do they prefer schools?
  4. I bought a flagtail from HFF a few months ago in November, it was about 3 inches, now it is 4inches pushing 5. Has anyone else bought this fish, how has their growth been for you? Colour development? Henward you can comment  but this is mainly targeted for those who just bought one from the latest shipment. I will post pics of mine soon.
  5. Hey I saw these in a store tank recently and just wondered if somebody could give some info on experiences and post pics  thanks
  6. No way, that law would make no sense whatsoever unless the means of death are inhumane.
  7. Dude. Metynnis = no more plants, I recommend mystus cats if you dont like the completely active nature of pictus, they are also heaps cheaper + get a cool pleco.

  11. I have been after these guys too for quite a while, HFF is our best shot, but I assume its just get what they get.
  12. yeah but still that was insane! it grew faster than a cichlid!
  13. 2m tank? They have potential to get bigger than aros, I felt bad keeping one in my 6ftr . And yeah, henwards right, they grow super fast, my one that I kept at henwards grew from 15cm to almost a foot in about 2 months NO JOKES - agreed with henward it was the fastest growth rate we have ever seen.
  14. Yep, gotta say there has been quite a few this summer.
  15. Where is this site? Sounds like a good place to explore Lucas creek is pretty good too and a tributary slightly upstream have inanga and the sort there too.
  16. I agree with snookie, 1 type of loaches would look better, I love cherry barbs too! When they turn super red they are very nice. Looking good so far, but just a thought, maybe check out some pics of an asian biotope to have as a reference - it might just be me but try out a different type of wood - maybe lighter in colour and thinner and add some small flat river stones? Could improve it?

    Glofish

Ah ok thanks educated again. Did you know Koreans inserted a phospherous gene into dogs giving them glow in the dark paws - its on youtube, pretty wierd.

    Glofish

nah, I was referring to bdspider's comment; both dye and the jellyfish gene have to be injected I am pretty sure - and the fish appreciates that? What do you mean by the other GM ones?

    Glofish

Im confused? There are 2 types of GM fish?
  20. Yeah I gotta say a puffer bite would be quite sore.

Why do you think they look cool? Unnatural, terrible for the fish causing earlier death. Why not get cardinals which have MUCH better and safer colour, + they are not illegal.
  22. Oscars sort of give you a graze? They only have little grinders but my old one did draw blood on occaision.
