    I want that parrot!
  3. ^^Thats a big eel LA, is it at yours?
  4. yup, good fish, cheaps as chips  and good looking, easy to keep.
  5. I have managed to feed my bichirs by hand, took a while for them to get used to the presence of my arm in the tank, other fish take advantage of the and feed faster. Herperjosh, I reccomend that you create a beef ball too large for the cichlids, that way the cichlids can't take the food fast enough away from the bichir.
  6. I wouldnt bank on hand feeding a bichir. They can be reclusive.
  7. I have seen both types of fish in the same tank, but other varieties are more suited, make sure ph isnt too high.
  8. Not true; totally depends on what monster fish you do and how you set it up Go for bichirs, large cichlids, knifefish etc. arowana IMO need a slightly larger tank to be comfortable especially silvers and blacks.
  9. Cannot swim right, lists around, and cant keep balance, doesnt eat. pretty much as soon as it has it its gone :tears: Sucks dude, everything in tank is fine: water perfect, tankmates fine, tank size fine, feeding fine - dont know why the hell it got this problem! Just gonna have to get a couple new dels I think. Does anyone have a male delhezi for sale? got a female in the mood, but the male I have is a grandpa - too old for her I think, shows no interest.
  10. Keen to get some leps actually, but not getting out of fish.
  11. Thats great! I think they might have had a conscious, and had knowledge of the difficulty they might have had selling them :-? Awesome you got them back though!
  12. Good to hear your cichlids are going well, don't suppose there are many midas cichlids around, I would like to get one too. Probably gonna sell my jar to make way for some cichlids - can keep a few with the aro, but not other community fish :an!gry
  13. Lost him &c:ry Did not make my day that's for sure.
  14. potential build up of gas, but usually that 'blows' over relatively soon, this seems more prolonged. Food doesn't tend to stay in the tank long due to the inhabitants, except for the peas . Not a common issue, the closest examples have been small amounts of gas which have passed within a few hours, or a severe swim bladder disturbance that kills the fish super fast - this was not limited to just bichirs - many other things such as datnoids have had this in my tank. Not a common problem for me. Update: Looks like he's perked up a bit in the bucket, keeping on doing many water changes in the bucket keeping it fresh. Gonna do one last epsom salts bath tonight before bed then put him in the main tank again and see how he goes. EPSOM SALTS HELP! USE THIS ON FISH WITH SWIM BLADDER ISSUES.
  15. Anyone keeping stuff like red devils, jaguars, blackbelt cichlids etc? Those tend to be quite sparse here in the hobby, pictures will be appreciated
  16. Pics of Nav's chocolate cichlids? The ones I have seen look quite drab, dull greeny/brown colour?
  17. So my favourite delhezi affectionately named Honda :dunno: got a swim bladder problem on Christmas day :tears:. I looked up possible problems, and I hope it's just constipation rather than an injury or a virus, I have treated him in an epsom salts bath, tried feeding peas (won't eat them) and have put him in a shallow bucket of water changing the water every few hours. I have had this issue before in other fish and none have survived, however this is the first time I have decided to treat it. I really don't want to lose this guy! Anything else I can do? Has anyone actually had success 'curing' this?
  18. Last time I checked Giraffes are not aquatic

    Banggais

    Are those tropical pipefish?
  20. 70 tanks!!! :nilly: man, you are so absorbed into the hobby. Nice though I have seen a few chocolate cichlids, but never any really large ones, how big do they grow? Aggressive? Get the big tank! Pacu are cool but only if you can actually support them, I haven't seen one in ages though - a good thing.
  21. Lots of posts on smaller cichlids, those who have larger ones eg: jag, midas, oscar etc please share what you are keeping/experiences and pics if possible.
