  1. hahaha   Did you mean Hugh Mackenzie?? Haven't been in that room for like 2 years...if it was either of us we would've forgotten by now anyway  but I have seen other graffiti with the same name as us but not mine or Dave's writing so I'm guessing since we both have common names that it' prob another couple lol
  2. but how do you clean sand? Wouldn't it get messed up all the time because it's light weight? And lastly where did you get the sand from?
  3. two out of my four Blue Rams have paired off and are defending a corner of the tank, Im 99% sure that it's a boy and girl due to the differences of their dorsal fins and how the male is always chasing the other male blue ram away and how the couple usually travel together. Here's a photo of the couple: She has one short operculum - will this be passed on? Also - what would be the best substrate for breeding these little guys?
  4. you might have to do more than just 30% waterchanges per week, goldfish produce way more waste than people think/realise. What's the rate of your filter? (Can it do 5X75L in an hour - that's the recommended I think) and maybe 2 or 3 water changes a week?
  5. My Discus/Community tank gets fed three times a day in small portion: - home made beef heart+prawn+shrimp mix in the morning for Discus and flake for the other inhabitants at 8am - NLS Discus granules at 5pm - bloodworms and whiteworms and spirulina wafers after water change about 9pm-ish... I do daily 50%/60% water changes and have two external canisters running so that avoids bad water conditions.
  6. Jimr - put a pic of your tank up!! Dying to see it since you told me about it at the livebearer Show
  7. wow that is a good trick - do you freeze them after hatching??

    Dwarf flags

little bit of salt or cold water triggers some fish?
  9. if my Discus don't take to Mysis Shrimp - would they take to adult brineshrimp?
  10. I add prawns to the mix too
  11. I'm really hoping for the best, I do daily water changes anyway it's in my Discus tank so the water's always prestine and have added Stress Coat, would methyl blue also be a good thing to add for antibacterial healing?

    Dwarf flags

with addition of a little bit salt too
  13. he'she's really quick and I have too many plants in my tank so I can't really catch it without stressing everyone else in the tank out, could I just pour some stress coat into the water? I had a look at him today, the patches aren't as pink anymore - so maybe it's healing?
  14. nope think the deal lasts until Sunday at Animates - it's not advertised in the store.
  15. it should be fine, probably a sign of overfeeding - do a big water change by siphoning the gravel
  16. Heater is at least 3cm off the substrate, is there a way that I can prevent them from going between the heater and the wall? Anything I can add to the water to help this heal?
  17. I put both Flora pride and Flourish in once a week...both my heaters are set at 30degress cell with the tank temp at 29. Heater burn? How do I prevent that from happening again? Could these be gauges made by another fish?? They seem like perfect circles and I'm getting really worried and frustrated..want to help it but at a loss to what it is.
  18. It's the same as usual - it's the only GBA like this. Swimming and eating as usual, doesn't seem affected by it other than the superficial scarring. Could this be some sort of bacterial infection that can kill him/her? I have dosed the tank with Flora Pride and Flourish Excell - does this have anything to do with it?
  19. well I read this thing about how Discus will release pheromones to suppress other Discus from growing so if the water change is not frequent I'll end up with some runts etc...plus I do feed Beef heart+prawn feed in the morning, NLS pellets in the afternoon and bloodworms at night - so I do water changes everynight to keep my tank clean They're all above 8cm mark and growing well (no runts so far)
  20. but doing over 100L a night on one tank does get tedious
  21. for a couple of days only noticed a pink patch on the top of this GBA and thought it was from a fight, went to feed the community tank and found him/her like this: Pink scaleless patches all over body and fins have membrane gone Needing to know if this is contagious? and treatments for this urgently! Thanks
