  1. Hey Discusguru - thanks for that! I have to admit that I tried adding some cold water in between addition of warm water - thought it wouldn't make much difference. Loaches are all fine so I guess no white spot
  2. most people think only larger dogs are affectionate but I stand to differ, my 5kg PekingneseX is so loyal - Dave and I were walking our dogs Lucky(a German Shepherd X) and Midori when this pitbull X cross broke free from it's owner's grasp (it's owner was a complete moron skateboarding and holding the leash - of course it's a no brainer) and ran at my dogs and both Midori and Lucky lunged at it after I screamed (and almost cried)...when we eventually pulled al the dogs off we found our 10yo German ShepherdX pinning the rouge Pitbull down by it's head - so relieved none of our dogs got hurt
  3. yeah I thought it was strange as it's only on their tails and back fins, what brand of rock salt do you use? (we're pretty useless in a supermarket) have tried to get a photo of it but not very good quality, will have to google it.
  4. doubt it, especially if it is a commercial chain store - profit would be most important, at least the family/private owned pet stores care more for their animals
  5. Aren't those dogs on the black list? (like you can't breed them or import them anymore just because a few morons are using them to dog fight) Our fam friends have one of those beasts for hunting - when I saw it I was like holy f***en huge
  6. haha too true! I work in a cafe/ice cream parlour and the number of times I've wanted to smack little pesky kids hands touching ice cream cones and leaving smudge marks on glass cabinets
  7. really? where were they found? - sorry a little out of touch been away from laptop in for a week..if only I didn't have to work
  8. I've put a question up in the Disease section but no one's answered and I'm getting really worried now. T he white spots I spotted last night on the caudal and the soft dorsal fin bit are on one side of the fish only and slightly raised, occuring only on the spines and not on the membranes. Am wanting to know what I should treat the whole tank with bearing in mind that it's a community tank so the medication has to be all-fish-friendly. Thanks.
  9. Bricks eh.....interesting! Never would've thought to use it I'm planning on putting in a few pottery pieces in the corner of their new tank and maybe a few potted plants as well. Do people move the male as soon as he's fertilized the eggs?
  10. I was originally going to put some white river sand into mine then couldn't be bothered since I couldn't get hold of any and wanted desperately to get my tank up and running.
  11. if you aquascape it right it would look awesome even if you only have a few species of plants - like that famous Japanese guy (what's his name again )
  12. that's extreme same with Amy's divorced parents - her mum's quite the jealous type so now we never talk about prices
  13. is that all the fish you're going to have? or is that work in progress?
  14. I don't know if Im just imagining things or over-reacting, have just noticed several white spots on some of the small Alenquer Reds, the spots are very tiny and are on the spines of the fins only. Am thinking of treating the whole tank as a precaution - what treatment do people recommend. I have loaches, GBAs and tetras as well as a cockatoo pair in the same tank so the treatment has to be all-fish-friendly. Any recommendations would be awesome - methyl blue tonic?

  16. haha I reckon come on - dying to see it! What fish you putting in?
  17. hahaha  different people get aroused by different things - we shouldn't judge them too much
  18. Apparently people need permits to have attack trained dogs in NZ? They got rid of all three Dobies when the kids came along because they were only loyal to Dave's dad so they could easily mistaken a child's outstretched arms as a threat unfortunately plus they wern't cheap either at almost $20K per dog
  19. wow good work Rockwork - when we had our new terrarium designed we couldn't even think about putting a beardy into a small enclosure so now we're going to have a small/juvenile beardy in a 1.5mX0.6mX0.7m terrarium starting with tiles then progress into sand when it's older might even be knocking on your door in the future about a rock backing - too poor at the moment after forking our for the terrarium
  20. plan's been stalled - Amys mum might not be going away to Aucks anymore hence will need to find new place for a boozey BBQ and what's worse might be spending Xmas day with the aunt
