    Blue Ram???

Oh man looks like I will have to roadtrip upto Palmy on a day off work - most the staff in the lower hutt animates are pretty clueless when it comes to fish, one staff told me there were no such thing as fry sponge filters and that all filters need to have a motor  despite me telling her otherwise.
  2. older fry about 7/8 mm but quite fat in depth and smaller batch about 3 mm
  3. Got the first batch growing well, over a month old now and soon going to be added into their own grow out tank, the second batch only around 20/30 survivors because I wasn't careful enough when removing the pot around a week old. The female's breeding tube's starting to stick out again and I'm out of tank space so I might just leave her next spawn with her. Have to admit I'm not having much luck with hatching BBS (it's so simple so it's frustrating that I'm not getting it!!!)

    Blue Ram???

well scoop some baby Bolivian Rams out for me next time they become free swimming! I'd rather buy from you But WHAT is good colouring on these starving looking petshop Rams Phoenix?? I've stared and stared and left not buying a thing...secretly hoping they'll order another batch in and I'll get them before they end up shrunken.
  5. maybe the seller has a lisp???

    Blue Ram???

has anybody noticed that the Bolivian Rams from petshops always have sunken in stomachs?? I've been to SEVERAL petshops and have steered away from buying them 'cos they don't look healthy...does anyone breed these in NZ?
  7. TM - got these guys from Animates when they had the 2 for 1 sale (totally stoked when they paired off)..I don't know if they're related or what but I'm keen to get more...Also THANKS for the brineshrimp eggs. How are your Apisto's coming along TM?
  8. BnB -I just followed TM's advice on feeding once a day - I think overfeeding could be a reason how I lost a few. They love Micros and are getting used to decap at the moment I hatched them myself due to their parents who keep eating the eggs, since they lay on terracotta pots I just take the pot out and put an airstone under so the air bubbles circulate the current around the eggs - seemed to work well, but one problem being the air bubbles being too strong to allow wrigglers from attaching to the pot  and all the wrigglers end up on the tank bottom. I am however after more Blue Rams from another line, got a spare male in my community tank to pair up. To keep them as unrelated as I can, think they die easier due to being inbred?
  9. these are from my Blue Rams...from their 3rd spawning Slowly getting the hang of it...trying to breed my balloon gold rams too but no luck from them yet. here's the parents:
  10. Photos of my 2/3week old ram fry: First batch and there's already another batch of week old fry from the second batch
  11. got offered a job at R&Vs - BUT can't go due to having to house-sit the house down the road got burgled on Boxing Day in broad daylight (which is really weird in our nice neighbourhood)
  12. has anyone tried this in Wellington? 'Cos I find where I live under/before a hill so the sun doesnt come out until later and don't last as long - would this affect the temp much?

    Lighting

Is there a type of lighting that shows off fish colour as well as being good for plant growth?

    Lighting

I have only one fitting for a 4foot light and it's a planted community tank, wanting to know whether people prefered blue light or red light tube or the white light? Also what k's are recommended. Am currently using a brand called Sylvannia Aquastar which is 10,000 Kelvins. Thanks
  15. sweet as updated photo of the Ram fry: am feeding them micro's, they don't look big enough for decap brineshrimp eggs at the moment - or are their mouths bigger than it seems?
  16. followed TM's recommendations and have hatched the latest batch of Blue Rams in a bucket, they are at the two day old wriggler stage - all can semi-swim! Mum looks like she's conditioned up again so won't be long until she lays another batch. Very excited - they're in semi green water and I'll be adding green water in everyday to top it up. Can Ram fry take micros before they take bbs?
  17. MysticVampyre - can fully understand that feeling! During my exam period my lil dog fell down the stairs slipping a disc in her back causing her not to be able to poo for almost 4 days...$600 later from being at the Vets for 2 days she came right I was dirt poor for the next few weeks of uni! We're on the look out on TM for it and I doubt the insurance would cover it since we borrowed it, we'll just have to save up and buy Dave's dad another bike  ...hard lesson learnt!
  18. Came home from work to find our mountain bike stolen think it's the kid next door who always looks up our driveway and into our property (watched him once from upstairs) and has REALLY questionable mates... Really sux big time..was an expensive bike and borrowed!
  19. ew that Discus looks so grossly stunted wouldn't pay a cent for it, otherwise cool moth!
  20. hahahaha maybe I should add a few more to ease the tension
