  1. i don't do Discuss but isn't that a type of worm or something??? i think Co2 increases the ph level of the tank but i have used this system with no ill affect.
  2. Is that what you call a "Womb with a view" Thats real punny!
  3. Had a great time. Something i always wanted to do. Even got in the water and got to briefly interact with 4-6 dolphins also, they looked right into me almost, i will never forget it. Hope to go again one day. Highly recommend it. Enjoy!!!
  4. yeah true that Stella, and one suffers from the other.
  5. yeah cheers David. Was going to divide up the stem of the plant into six 30cm sections to make some new plants, does that sound like a plan that could work???
  6. Heres those photos David. Yeah its definitely time for the chop, chop, but any diagnosis from David or anyone in the know would be great.
  7. yeah it was recently turned about 3 weeks ago. So is it rot??? the infected area is very tuff, not juicy like i would expect from rot. the plant is about 6foot and only the top 30 centimeters is currently affected.
  8. thanks for that great web page David, yeah the plant is outside and i actually think it could be sun burn??? just had a quick look at that page going back there now, cheers. Jade
  9. i have a Cleistocactus straussi cacti that has developed a case of the shrinks about 20 cms from the top. it has also changed colour from green to yellow in the most infected area and has also gone brown in the most shrunk section. the top of the cacti has gone from nice and straight to a right angle in a week and i suspect fungi, or rot. any help would be great as to naming this problem and a cure to go with it would be fantastic!!!
  10. yeah was going to but then realised how much i hate rotaries!!!! baaaabbaababbbaaaabaaabb
  11. completely off topic but Caryl is right, Rozski, those photos are good as.
  12. Even with 50% off, still not too cheap when the price of the fx5 they had was 700+!
  13. i like that tea bag idea, but would it be fail proof? would you miss the odd fry that way?
  14. female looks a lot thinner, but haven't spotted any fry.
  15. milk powder, not the skim stuff though, yeast is good too it makes the water green = population explosion. Easy to overfeed i only feed once a week maybe twice. in my 80 liter tub i put only half a teaspoon of powder at a time and only a lite sprinkle of yeast.
  16. cheers guys. Ryan do they look similar to gigantic sperm? only 2mm in length?
  17. have a young pair (the white variety) nearly a year old, they have been in their own 1ft tank for 6 weeks, on live foods, nice clean water, xmas moss to spawn in, still no action. Any suggestions? just turned heater down to 24 degrees, was going to add an ice cube each night to the tank, am going to let natural osmosis do its thing and let the tank get to 60 percent full then fill with fresh clean water. What else is there that i can try? perhaps a bigger tank outside for summer?
  18. EJ how do you raise the fry? how many fish are in a set up like that?
  19. done, little ones were eaten quickly, the bigger ones to big to eat but no obvious harm to fry.
  20. Shot, but can't the big ones attack the fry???
  21. How old should fry be before feeding live daphnia? (Dwarf Cichlid)
  22. isn't there an issue with when some fish get swallowed that the spikes near their gill plates can puncture the Esophagus of the bigger fish? As Oscars can be so brain dead when it comes to food i would recommend a larger species altogether, such as a pleco?
  23. mine grow pretty good just floating, when i originally got it i think it was getting eaten but now out of the patchy stink old peices ive got tens of pups. The rhimzone i am pretty sure is what the leaves are attached to, similar to that of Anubias.
