  1. shameless work selfie haha I so love this thread. LA and Alan - you are both banned from making hair related comments hahah :sml1:
  2. Bingo! :slfg: Spent a couple of days working in CHCH and then Friday and Saturday with Jennifer in CHCH. Went shopping ( :sml1: ), saw the sights, played with a very excited puppy! :happy2: and just generally really had fun. Got to meet an old man with a beard too which wasn't too bad either haha :slfg:
  3. I had the best weekend in a long long time!! :happy1:
  4. You know me far too well! :sml1: mm shopping.. :digH: I'll message you tonight when I get back home! Need to call up Air NZ and swap flights in that case!
  5. I will be staying in the IBIS on Hereford Street and will cab to and from work. Just needed something to do on Wednesday evening / night really - I might just go for a long walk and explore! I've never been to CHCH before. Jen - It would have been awesome to do that! Pity you're away! I might try Riccarton Mall if it's walking distance. A little shopping never hurt! :lar: I'm sure I can stay back on Friday and fly down another day if I can organise the flight change and you can show me stuff? Let me know! My accommodation runs out on Thursday night.
  6. What is there to do? I'm working on Thursday and Friday - after which I'll fly back to palmy.
  7. Kp and I have posted on this in the past. Mine took yonks to germinate but did in a very nutrient rich tank (plain daltons at the base, nothing covering it up).
  8. Syno Euptera in an intermediate phase. They go through 3 colour morphs and the patterns change. They look like little cories when they are 1-2cm long.
  9. Use flourish comprehensive. It may help if your lights are good.
  10. Looks far more painful than childbirth. Women should consider themselves lucky!
  11. Aww thank you . I might do a fluval edge when I'm a little more settled etc. I can spend the next few months planning it then haha. As long as I don't lose my precious plants I'll be ok - If I can't look after the plants, Jen will look after my anubias species etc for me
  12. Any non income earning pets wont be covered if there's an earthquake etc as well. Livestock(farms) is the exception but the rules and regulations around it are insanely strict.
  13. Change of life really. I'm moving into a house with other people and so I've had to shut down the tank. All my fish are at a friends place living in a huge bath tube with a snake neck turtle that refuses to eat fish :ske: :sml1: Plants are there too. I'll start selling stuff off as and when I make that decision. Really hard to do because I know if I sell the fish I'll never be able to get them at those prices again. And all those plants took years and years of hard work and dedication. I've pretty much sold a lot of the stuff I had - never did live like a student haha. But I guess I'm 25 now so I'll get a tank permanently when I buy my own house - probably in Auckland or Wellington.
  14. Yeah, I guess I will! Don't know how I can improve on perfection though. *(somewhere out there Zev is scoffing). No withdrawals so far. I've gone to the trouble of storing all my equipment (CO2, lights, filters, heaters etc etc) in New Plymouth so I'm not tempted. I've kept one fluval m series heater and I may get a fluval chi at a later date with some badis in it.
  15. I am now for the first time in 7 years fish less!
  16. There's a few threads on here that tell you what members on here have used. CO2 Cylinder, Regulator with solenoid, CO2 Tubing, Diffuser of some sort, Bubble counter.
  17. Markings are very distinct. I say L168 not 52. Ask Rabbit though, he might have ideas too.
  18. Please beware of the advice you are imparting. H2O2 is a very powerful oxidising agent and will burn your fish's gills. It will kill them along with any plant and algae in stronger doses. It is very effective at killing algae - but at what cost. I should know. I wiped out an entire tank with thousands in livestock in one go.
  19. Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day!
  20. No plastic plants are safe! Plastic can choke aquatic life. Real plants are much better. :sml1:
