Glo Lux is again one of those specialist tubes that doesn't strictly conform to a single Kelvin rating. It might have to be rated at around 8500K but again is a specialist tube. Great for Hygros and some Dutch tanks, but they won't beat powerglos. Only tube that will beat powerglos are plantpros but at $120 per T5HO tube, I wouldn't go rushing to the shops to buy them.

Any animal (excluding fish). Sold as pets only. Not for showing or breeding. Have to agree to take it to the vet if it falls ill etc. Again a bit sad to see all stores in the chain being lumped in the same category when I have worked in the palmy store since 06' now and seen hundreds and thousands being spent on small animals the likes of mice and rats without a seconds hesitation.

No, those are just the 4 different names under which the 2 - 3 species of fish are sold interchangeably. Don't know exactly how you misunderstood what I said.

Actually when you buy Siamese Algae eater off the wholesale list you don't always get what you pay for. Makes it even more confusing when you get to choose between flying fox, true flying fox and siamese algae eater. I've even seen true Siamese algae eater on there a couple of times, so it is confusing as hell - especially as you can only know what you have once they are in store . You will occasionally get a mix of species in the same bag too so I wouldn't jump on the wagon and place all liability on the store. I still think people should research what they buy before they actually go and get it.

Because when you run a business, any extra time devoted to anything at all = increase in costs. If that cost could be passed on to the consumer, they most likely would. But I can't imagine that would go down well at all. There would be another thread on here complaining about extortion! :slfg:

Thanks. I spent the best of 30 minutes contemplating buying them. Then went to play with the puppies to think over it; then went back and thought some more and finally got 4 home. I got them instead of another 10 cardinals, so my cardinals will have to wait a little longer.

Added 4 Dwarf gouramis today. 2 cobalt blue, and 2 red flame. FTS- I can't wait for the needle leaf fern to come through from the base of the wood.

Flip side to the argument - On the other hand it could be even worse to sell under a sci. name when one cannot be 100% certain. Perhaps it verges on the side of caution? I'd be more likely to research the genealogy of a species sold under a common name than I would one sold under a sci name. I do prefer sci names, but I don't know if I would like everything being sold under them.

I only use the GLO ones that cost about that + tubes - Available from pretty much any pet / fish store. The quality of the product is definitely worth the price.
