  1. Good thing too. Substrate isn't something you want to be changing all the time.
  2. Yeah, until recently only a couple of my flatmates truly respected property that didn't belong to them. There was a crazy girl that I kicked out who was rough with everything and would have hissy fits and slam doors etc. She was very bad with the washing machine and the control panel would inevitably get ruined. I finally told her to make sure the front door didn't hit her on the way out.
  3. I've never had a problem with them. It does pay to avoid keeping them with long finned fish etc. There was a good article on PFK a week or so ago that I'd recommend reading knightmarc.
  4. Definitely more tiger barbs. Some nice cories would be cool too.
  5. Hello everyone. Is anyone driving either through or from Hamilton to or near Palmerston North any time soon? I have something I need brought down, and it won't take up loads of space or any thing. Thanks.
  6. Tiger barbs are about as peaceful as it gets IF you have them in a decent sized schoal. Increase their numbers and things will sort out; but having said that 15 is a good number. It is more likely that the tiger barbs are being picked on by a different species.
  7. It'll be released in a few years either which way under the Freedom of Information Act.
  8. I dunno... if I spent $20+ on a Cl- test kit, I'd want there to be chlorine in the water.
  9. I used to live off Roseberry ave! About to call friends now to see what the damage is like.
  10. I was jumping for joy when I heard he was dead. Only regret is that it seems he didn't suffer when he did die. On Sept 11, 2001 I remember sitting with my mum in front of the TV shivering and shaking in fear that dad was at the office in the twin towers. It was mere luck that he had left his captain's license on the ship and they had to turn back. We heard from him and the company a few days later; but never will I forget the sense of loathing I felt when I saw Osama's picture on the TV.
  11. !drool: !drool: !drool: Wow. I would love planting that!
  12. Yes, but flatmates tend to break washing machines. We are on machine number 5 now :nilly: Machine number 2 was mine. :an!gry :tears: It now houses my microwave :rotf: (as you guys would have seen!). CR charges $7pw for a 5kg machine, and they are great at replacing a machine if anything goes wrong with it. Perfect for flatters!
  13. Really now? They eat all sorts of veges and pleco food! I was considering getting some for my tank again, but i'd never see them.
  14. Rent one from central rentals if it's going in a flat.
  15. I use it. Works a charm, and if you have hundreds or thousands of dollars of fish in a tank it's worth the peace of mind.

    Bloodworms?

Me too. I have some in my mossie larvae / plant tub thing.
  17. That is what I intend on doing.
  18. It was most likely because I picked up his rock and put it in a net breeder as he hung on to his babies! I kept an eye on him for a few hours, but the next day only 4 were left. Ah well, there is always next time. I have 4 fry at the moment. They seem happy but time will tell. It'll be another 10 - 14 days for the next batch of eggs I think.
  19. Ideally you need a close-up of the head that shows the cranial shape; a top-down view of the fish (vertically) and / or a pic of the vent.
  20. It looks fantastic! I'm sure the tank will look amazing with that in it!
  21. They breed in my planted tank, and won't be transferred to another tank or anything like that. She doesn't go near the cave once the deed is done and the male does quite a good job up to day 10. Next time I'll help them hatch on day 10.
