there's more than just a couple shovelnoses in NZ... much more than just a couple... its just all very hush hush that's all... (for good reason too) :bounce:
sure is. chuck some out doors and then youll struggle to give it away
do you have the right lighting?
and it is entirely possible to have a very well planted goldfish tank. i have done it in the past before - you just need the right plants.
perhaps you could request this thread be moved to the aquatic plants section so plant braniacs like alanmin can see and reply. his advise is spot on.
they wiggle about in one place initially. and then they start to move or rather clumsily fall around for about 6 -7 hours. after that they can swim but not very well...they get the hang of it when the egg sac disappears.
not always.
there are heaps of different suppliers, ranging from auckland to new plymouth to chch, and they import fish at different times and stuff.
so the fry swap may be a good idea.
i never breed related fish, as that narrows the gene pool. (thus my views on hybrids and how they are good.. BUT lets NOT get into that lol).
repetition, repetition, and more repetition.
that and patience, and then repeat some more.
and then the second rule is consistency, consistency, consistency.
the eggs usually get to the wiggling stage, where the babies are about to hatch, and then they get eaten. so you can give it a go and let them try taking care of the kids in the community tank, or you could siphon them out, put them in a spare tank.
that is a very very nice collection. :bounce:
i had 12 at one stage, and am now down to 9 i think.
I choose mine very carefully - i make sure they have the V pattern on both sides, lol. takes ages to catch the fish but get there eventually. hopefully i can get more clowns, they are among my favourite fish =)
